no dont go large this jackets super long im just about you size and a med i pull the lace at the botom and flip it up and in for a more baggy fit

Who gave that kid beer? He must be drunk if he's 5'6" thinks he needs a large. If you're 5'9-5'10, a medium will fit you just fine. it won't be baggy, but it will not be too small either.
