i wouldnt say you'd have to... but if ure only using it in the park its prob a good idea. The magtrac means that you'll still get heaps o grip after detuning it too. Personally, I didnt detune cause i love carving (yes, i carve/ride fast with this board hehe) and i can still hit the box's an rails without issue.
