Hey there. These arent bulky. I would say they are right around average. Their shell footprint is smaller than usual. For instance if you wear a 9 your footprint is an 8 in these compared to other boots. As far as the upper being bulky, I have these and wear them with slimmer pants and haven't had issues. So for me and my opinion, I don't think they are bulky.
