the insulation package is sufficient on most days, however anytime it's super cold, it's always a good idea to layer up and remove if necessary

This jacket has a good amount of insulation to keep you toasty on super cold days. However if it dips below zero degrees F, you might consider throwing on a fleece or hoodie underneath.
