5'6 150 pounds...on the chub side. Would it be wrong to get a 148?I prefer smaller boards since its easier to control than a 152. Will I be able to rock out on a 152 and control my tricks? Whatddya think?

The 152 all the way. You will be stoked on the size, it is not too big at all. Great size and great board.

148 would be a good park board for you, but it would be very small if you ever plan to take it out of the park. the 152 would still be small enough to ride in the park, but you would get a little more stability on trails or pow or something. I would go with the 152, but its up to you.
