hey, how is the fit on this, im 5'7" and top built, should i go with the medium or large? and is the powder skirt removable?

JYOUNG, I would suggest the Medium, unless you like it more baggy, then go with a Large. Also, the powder skirt is not removable and hangs below your jacket for better/more protection on those DEEP days! You can actually roll the powder skirt up, and snap it into place when not in use.
