Hello,
I presently have a 2006 Burton Custom 162cm but want to get a new board and was thinking of getting a shorter one. I get lots of differing advice but was thinking of a 158 cm Ride Machete. I am intermediate to advanced in some areas wieghing 195 lbs with size 10 boots. Some people were saying 158 is too short.........do you think so or will I be fine ?

Board size to a degree is all about prefferance. I'm 6'2" 160lbs. My powder board is a 160cm and my fun board is a 154cm. If you are worried try to demo/rent a 158 and see if you like. What you like is ultimately what will make for a great snowboard.
