i love the backcountry.....but im confused to why these board would be the best for the trees....and also the binding setup is weird to me

This is a split board. It is not "best for the trees". The boards splits down the middle and acts as skis so that you can skin up a mountain side to gain access to hard to reach areas. You then put the board back together and snowboard down, that is why the bindings look so weird. They convert from a ski type binding that lifts in the heels so you can walk in them, to a legit snowboard binding for the ride down.
