Is this watch waterproof? water resistant? says what material it is, but I'm not sure what that is... some kind of plastic, or is it more rigid than that?

Polycarbonate is pretty much just a heat-molded plastic. It's very resilient, without being brittle or stiff, making the watch impact and temperature resistant, and thus, extra durable. As for the water resistancy, it's good down to 50 meters, which is essentially a splash and weather-proofing. The Dial is definitely a fresh and lively fashion piece, and definitely not a dive watch.
