I wear a 7 3/8 or 7 1/2 New Era...but I would like to wear a beanie underneath of this...should I go XL, or would L work?

I tried this helmet on the other day in a local shop and this is most likely the one i will be buying from here. I am also a 7 1/2 new era hat size (hat fits snug/not loose). If you are planning on stripping out the ear pads and extra padding n wearing a beanie and goggles under then go with the large. Thats the look I was going for and It fit perfect for me that way.
