i usually fit a womens 7.5 in authentic vans, i was just wondering if i would fit an 8 in the sophie, would it be the same? i don't care if it's a little big.

Yes, I would say an 8 is your best bet. These tend to fit a bit more snug than classic Vans. And if they don't fit, you can always send them back. Hope that helps!
