This beacon is crazy easy to use. It is a little big compared to some others I've used. If you are just starting to venture into the backcountry this is perfect.
A few practice runs and you'll be good to go.

Anytime ventured outside of controlled terrain should be treated with the utmost respect. One thing to remember is that if you or your friend is caught in a slide the only thing preventing potential loss of life is your ability to efficiently operate your beacon. You should never venture out into the backcountry without many hours of practice. You should have complete confidence that you could find your partner under a stressful situation when every second counts. Chose your partner carefully. That being said, the DTS is a great beacon that will come through if you, unfortunately, find yourself needing it. BE CAREFUL!!!
