got the green 09's. i was a little worried about them being too stiff. not a problem though. i actually really liked having a little more support. i've had sl-7's and sl-9's, i have those in 11 but got the ions in 11.5, definitely glad i did, they fit just the same. i really like the improvements made on the 09's, i always hated the velcro strap at the top of the liner but they did away with it (on these 09 ions at least). i vowed never to buy boots without speedzone laces it after i got the sl-9's. i do like the batwing handles on the ion speedzones this year as opposed to the handles on the old style. comes with gel pad inside the heel that you can swap with a nike-air-type version, kinda hard to replace the liner without knocking the cushioning out of place. only complaint. hiked inbounds at snowbird today, they performed wonderfully. i would definitely recommend these.
