size/insulation clarification

By Ranked #1517 - Men's Jackets January 10, 2011

I've not yet used this jacket on the slopes yet, but wanted to note initial impressions and a couple points of clarification for potential purchasers...I would recommend that you purchase the jacket based on your "normal" clothing size, and not the liberal measurements in the Ride sizing chart. I normally wear an XXL shirt and a 50-inch chest suit coat. The XXL size chart of the Ride Ballard shows a 57-inch chest. While the Jacket fits comfortably with a light layer underneath, it has limited room for layers if you like a jacket on the baggy side or that allows maneuverability on those cold days. With regards to the insulation, it is very light insulation. Again, I've not tried it on the slopes yet, but as someone used to thick ski jackets, I anticipate this will require at least a few layers underneath. The jacket itself is comfortable. The black denim color is just as described/pictured. I purchased it primarily for its waterproof rating, so I'll try to write a review after my trip at the end of the month with performance review. This was my first purchase from Dogfunk.com, and I've since purchased some Electric EG2 goggles as well. Dogfunk's customer service and assistance is some of the best I've ever experienced, and I will certainly be back for future gear purchases.
