Sizing is really off

I usually wear a 33 or 34 waist but read the review below and just ordered the 34 and 36 with the thought I'd return whatever didn't work. The 34 was way too small (couldn't button it comfortably) and the 36 was massive. The cut seemed really different between the two sizes as well - the 34 was a slim fit and the 36 was super baggy. The material is super cool - kind of a shimmery brown in the Brown Heather, but I couldn't figure out how their sizing was so off.
