i took one hard fall off a rail onto a slab of ice and i immediately started shopping for some impact gear, i took a gamble and settled on these and they ended up saving my butt (pun absolutely intended) on numerous occasions...definitely worth the price, only downsides, they get pretty hot at times, especially on warmer days, also the hip pads don't always stay fully enclosed in their pad pocket...i would definitely recommend
