Yakima overload!   07-12-04
Anonymous: rating
Anyone considering a cargo basket please look no further than a LoadWarrior. Yakima is very conservative with their load capacity ratings. I actually mis-read my Volvo's roof rack load rating at 300lbs. when in fact it was actually only 200lbs. I travelled over 3000 miles around Arizona, Nevada, California with roughly 280lbs of gear on the Yakima low profile racks, LoadWarrior, extension, & stretch net. I had no problems except for overhead clearance issues in drive-thru restaraunts and underground parking structures. Of course this is mainly because I overloaded the basket. Upon my departure, I along with many of my neighbors expressed concern that either my rack or my car would surely break. I am here to say that I travelled through curvy mountain roads, windy overpasses, and average highway speeds of 75 MPH with no issues whatsoever. Yakima's cargo basket will satisfy virtually any roof load demand on small to mid size SUV's. I can only imagine that the larger mega-warrior would be great for the larger SUV's. D. Kal

Good way to haul a lot of gear   06-24-04
tdesanto (2): rating
This is a great way to stow a lot of gear on top of your SUV. I use it with the extension as well, making it over 5' long. If I had to do it over again, I might have chosen the MegaWarrior since it's a bit wider, but on top of my Montero it only looks a little skinny. It holds a lot and is very solid. I'm very pleased with it. I recommend getting the additional locks for this if you think it might get stolen--one downside of their making it easy to install and remove.

YAKIMA LOADWARRIOR   06-23-04

I replaced a new Thule cargo rack with a Yakima LoadWarrior! The Yakima had a cleaner mounting system, with great accessories (HiLift & Shovel mounts). The Yakima had a much better fit and assembly than the Thule. But Yakima mounting hardware left a lot to be desired. The handscrews are difficult to tighten, and have loosened with age. The bolt ends protrude up into the cargo space, which could scratch or rip the cargo. Both Yakima and Thule have lost their level of quality control and good design over the years. But Yakima is still my choice.

Yakima LoadWarrior   11-20-06
Michele M (2): rating
This was a great purchase. I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and the spare tire was mounted under the rear bumper. Now it's in my Yakima Load Warrior on my roof. It looks better and stays clean in the event of a flat tire plus there is room for extra gear and Yakima sells an extension if I need even more cargo room. The only other thing I need now is a tire step to make it easier to get the tire down and access the roof rack but other that that this was great!

Gotta love it   06-09-05

Yakima is the best for Xterra! I just got a brand new 05 Xterra off road and put the loadwarrior + extension on it and it gives an awesome step off look from the front with the Xterra roof rack and the Yakima wind deflector. A must buy for Xterra owners!

looks great, less filling   09-30-02

Load-warrior is sweet because it will fit directly on factory racks, Yakima or Thule racks. The Load-warrior is perfect for a smaller SUV like a Rodeo, Cherokee, Passport, Explorer, Trail-Blazer, etc. But a word of warning to Expedition, Tahoe or Suburban owners, this is probably too small. I mean, it will still hold gear, but it looks wussy. I would recommend the Load-Warrior stretch net along with the Load-Warrior.

If your stuffing the back of you truck/car full every trip, you'll love this rack. It's hell on the milage though. My truck goes from 22mpg to 15 mpg on the highway with the rack up top.

Awesome Rack   11-02-08

I have owned this rack on my 4runner for about a month and a half now and let me just say that its one of the best things Ive ever bought for my vehicle. Its so handy for those days when you have to cram 4+ people in your car AND all their gear. We could do it before...but now we can do it comfortably. I also have a ski rack that fits right on top of the basket so we dont have to cram the boards and skiis in the back. Great for outdoorsman or the the dude who has the girlfriend with wayyyyy to much luggage

This rack rocks   07-05-08

I have owned this rack for many years. This is one of the best things I have ever bought for my jeep. Sure it says that it has a load limit like what one of the other reviews mentioned but that is what they figure the rack bars on your vehicle can hold. I could easily stand on mine and it would hold up. Buy the extender as well.

A Must for those on the Go!!   06-13-08

We just travelled 1500 miles and had we not had the LoadWarrior, we would have had to leave things behind. I was amazed at how much 125lbs turns out to be. I was a little disappointed when I found out that there was a 140lb limit on the roof rack but I couldn't have put any more up there had I wanted to... my net was stretched bigtime as it was! It took a little time to get it on but now that the hardware and locking brackets are on, it takes no time to put on and take off. I had no problems with installation and it looks awesome. We complemented the rack with a Thule Tahoe Rack Bag which helped keep our clothes dry.

LoadWarrior is Great!!   06-13-08
maccve2215779 (1): rating
I recently bought a Yakima Loadwarrior from this site because they had a great sale on the item. It was shipped and received fast. I installed on my 2007 Pathfinder and have used it extensively. 16' Trim boards for my basement remodel, shower door from home depot while I had a car load of people, and numerous trips with the canoe strapped to it have made it worth the money. I know I will have lots of uses in the future. The only problem I have encountered is the screws stick up into the cargo area...I will probably take a hacksaw to them sometime if it becomes a persistent problem. This may not be an issue on all vehicles, though.

Yakima LoadWarrior   01-13-08

Bought the rack and installed it on a Honda Element with factory roof rails. The LW does not fit exactly over the Honda rails but it was too late for us to change things. We strapped our cases and hit the road. Works like a charm and looks great!

load warrior   10-07-06

Screws are sticking out (risking to scratch & rip your load) and the extended version does not perfectly fit for the distance / width of my factory cross bar (while recommended for my pathfinder) Screen arrived with the logo printed up-side-down and one missing screw. This site's customer service was not too helpful with instructions on how to mount the rack.

High quality, easy installation, limited usefulness   06-14-05
Byways (3): rating
Just installed a new LoadWarrior, with shovel/ax and spare-tire attachments. Yakima quality is outstanding. Very easy to install. Not practical for items you don't want exposed to weather. Good for firewood, extra spare, odd items you don't need/want inside vehicle. Should be bigger. Backcountry.com was excellent.

Load Warrior   09-22-03
liftit01 (2): rating
I purchased the load warrior and cargo net about a year ago. They are both great pieces of equipment. The basket carries huge amounts of cargo and the net keeps it snug. I have mine attached to an XTerra, I usually use it to carry firewood and supplies to the beach. BackcountryStore.com had great service; got the basket in 3 days. Local store told me 2 weeks.
