Toko Ski Vise World Cup   10-21-08

From Toko: "There is a new version available this year (item number 556003) that opens up to over 85mm, so that It can accommodate some of the wider waists of the newer skis. I did these measurements at the lower part of the rubber jaws. There is probably a little more wiggle room, I was just being conservative."

Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Sock   10-10-08

One of my favorite things is getting home from running and smelling my socks. I just like the nasty smell and will quickly offer the scent to anyone within the vicinity of me. I really like how these socks perform but I can no longer enjoy the smell- no thanks to the carbon from coconut shells. The upside is they don't slide around on your foot and bunch up in your shoe and they dry quick. These also feel like a dress sock on your feet or like when you borrow your sisters tights-except nobody gives you any funny looks. These socks are goooooood.

Gnu Riders Choice BTX Snowboard    Read other reviews of this product

Dakka Guru   08-13-08

This board is sooooo fabulous, fun and smoooooth. Ruts simply disappear when you ride over them and you can butter muffins all day long. The Rider's Choice BTX handles jumps better than the Skate Banana due to it's directional flex pattern inside the twin-park shape (this $#!+'S GOT POP!). The inside inserts have been moved to the outside for a wider stance option. Powder more your thing? set your binders an inch back and you'll out-perform weird dude's with long ponytails and swallowtails.

Ride DH Snowboard    Read other reviews of this product

It just seems weird   08-13-08

The DH has really good edge hold and does a really good job at vibration reduction due to the silencers and Slimewalls. I found the board to be too damp under my feet, it kind of felt like I was riding a dead animal, which is just nasty any way you look at it. Check out the Society for a deck w/ similar specs but without the roadkill factor.

Big Agnes Copper Spur 3   12-01-08

What pushed this for me to go from 3 stars to four was how easy it was to set up. I've used tent in the in-between winter and fall conditions and it did fine with the fly over it. It's plenty tall and roomy for 2 people but I think 3 people is pushing it but. The mesh is a nice touch to get a lot of fresh air in there and the clips don't slip at all and go on super easy. Overall, it's better than most 3 seasons I've tried, nice and light inside your pack. Big Agnes made a good one.

The North Face Terra 60 Backpack - 3700-3850cu in    This product is no longer available

The North Face Terra 60 Backpack   12-01-08

Great for weekend trips and maybe beyond depending on your packing style. This was the first TNF pack I'd ever tried and they didn't disappoint. For items you'd keep on the outside there's plenty of accessibility with two 10" zippered pockets on either side of the back of the pack and a 14" zippered pocket with a grommeted hole for wet things to drain in-between these two zippers. The panel with these three pockets is a stretchy softshell material. The Sleeping bag compartment is awesome- very roomy. Weight: 4 lbs, 5 oz Internal frame: 27" tall (w/ two Velcro tabs in case you want to take it out) Another one of the "coolest" features is the mesh on the inside, middle of the back that allows your back to breathe. Lastly, the cushioning on the back , straps and hip-belt are so comfortable, you'll want to sell your other pack on Craig's list.

Black Diamond Alpine CF Trekking Poles - 1 Pair    This product is no longer available

Black Diamond Alpine CF Trekking Poles   12-01-08

As far as poles go, These were the first pair I ever used. I thought I was going to look like a gooner in front of my hiking brethren and I probably did. The important thing here is by the end of our backing or hiking trips someone will ask to use one because they'll see how effective they actually are. Being able to use your upper body on steep inclines saves energy and takes pressure off your knees. weighing less than 1.30 lbs together and folding down to about 25" makes them easily attachable for the outside of your pack when you don't need them.

Snow Peak GigaPower BF Stove   12-01-08

I used this on a two day backpacking trip using the 250g Gigapower fuel canister. It helped cook meals for 3 hungry dudes in no time. I was really surprised at how fast it could boil some thick soups not to mention just water for hot coco. The Piezo ignition wasn't reliable, I only remember using it once then had to rely on using matches to light it the rest of the time. Still, not enough to deter from recommending just because it does light fast w/ matches. Weight in case: .95 lbs Weight out of case: .70 lbs Dimensions of case: 5.25" Long, 4" high, 3" wide Length of hose: 12" Surface of burner: 2"

Therm-a-Rest Dreamtime XL   12-01-08

Luxury camping indeed, concubines not included. Perfect for the back of the truck or on someone's floor. It has the pack size of about 80L so don't try bringing it beyond a parking lot unless you have a mule. Inflates fast and makes other's with you jealous even faster. Use it for your old bones or gift one to your girl to keep your camping trip 30% happier for the both of you.

"Adequate for the job" sums it up Black Diamond has quality headlamps and the Gizmo is no exception, It's not going to kill any gremlins but it will help you eat after midnight. It's a good Christmas gift also- Dude it's twenty bucks, quit being so cheap.

Black Diamond Cosmo Headlamp    This product is no longer available

Black Diamond Cosmo Headlamp   12-01-08

Black Diamond outdid themselves on this one. It has a high beam which is intense, a regular beam which is brighter than most and a flashing mode for dancing or emergencies or something. The clip didn't hold the lamp on there as well as expected but the tilt mode worked fine. I recommend it out of all BD"s lamps.

The North Face Arnuva 100 TR GTX   11-06-08

I think they're great. I didn't have to buy a 1/2 size bigger as reviewed below , in fact I recommend not doing that, they're pretty true to size. TNF's Northotic insole is supportive of your arch and there is a lot of heel cushion. Get 'em they're goooood.

Oakley Eyepatch   10-23-08

I recommend The Eyepatch for anyone who's had to deal with small frames and lenses which leave you looking like you stole glasses off an eight year old. The Eyepatch could cover up Walter Cronkite's eyebrows. The lenses are nice and dark. If you have the Todd Francis editions, it's probably not a mistake you do have them so congrats on being cool. he North Face Arnuva 100 TR GTX Trail Running Shoe   09-22-08

I took these out and on my first time I felt the TPU lacing cage support saving my ankle from rolling once or twice. and super comfortable-they survived the downhill portion of my run-which is the true shock absorbency test.

Form, Function   08-13-08

I always like to look better than I'm actually functioning but this time I've had no problem doing both. The Bushwick sounds like "bushwack" and that just rings good bells too. VZ should spell fog like "fogg" because around these parts, it should be a four letter word.

Jeremy Jones.   08-13-08

This is a well-rounded freestyle board. Jeremy rode the Dominant and the Twin before he got his pro model and this deck definitely has the best attributes from both. It's buttery when it needs to be and can blast booters any day of the week...well, I guess not on Sunday.

Bern Macon Hard Hat Helmet w/ Visor Knit Liner    This product is no longer available

Versatile   08-13-08

Bern backs up there claims as being a "multi-sport" product. The liner's ear flaps do their job of keeping you warm, the removable goggle clips keep goggles aligned and very little gaper gap. The padding is softer than any helmet I've ever worn. In the summer pop out the liner and skate in it or take it whitewater rafting. Hater's will say the fact that it's a "hard hat" and it's not certified that it shouldn't be on your head. Hmmm, worked out for Jake Brown in the X-games when hell fell 30 ft. to flat Masonite. So blah, blah, blah to the hater.
