Forum Youngblood Snowboard - Wide - 2009

The Forum Youngblood Wide Snowboard features a wider waist width so big-footed riders don’t have to worry about their toes dragging them down. This versatile freestyle snowboard’s lightweight GNAR core adds plenty of pop and its twin shape is easy control riding regular or switch. It’s no wonder this is the jib stick of choice for riders like Joni Malmi and Stevie Bell.

  • GNAR core’s vertical wood laminates reduce overall weight while providing a snappy and responsive ride
  • Biax fiberglass create a consistent, mellow, and forgiving flex
  • FGel Sidewall uses gel to ease impacts, add strength, and reduce chatter
  • Beveled edges pre-ground to prevent hang-ups on rails and features
  • Swingers Club reduces weight in the tip/tail for easier spins

Bottom Line: The Forum Youngblood presses every park and street obstacle it can find.

If the board says chillydog than it is rocker, if there is no mention of chillydog then it is camber. This youngblood is a camber youngblood.

Predicability

The Youngblood is a great predictable park/street board. A true twin with a predicable flex time and time again. The "swinger's Club" means that the tip and the tail have been machine cored to help keep your tips up in powder and stop you from over rotating. The FGel that is injected into the sidewall that is visible so you know its there, giving you that little extra cushion in hard landings.

"Fit" is a relative term, by getting the biggest wide board the yougblood has to offer, then the likelihood of experiencing toe or heel drag will be less. But your boot is pretty big. Duck your stance out to help combat the problem. Also an other option you can look at is getting a boot that is built on a smaller outsole as in the Burton Ozone or Jeremy Jones boot. Check these out, good luck.

Size 11 is usually right on the cusp of what people would consider for a "wide" snowboard.

My board is a "wide" model Never Summer legacy, I think the waist on it is just shy of 27cm, so it's slightly bigger than this one (25.8cm). I also wear a size 11 boot and I've got practically zero toe overhang. (ThirtyTwo boots have a pretty small footprint/size though). I think I could've gotten away with standard width, but I'm happy with the one I've got.

One other consideration is how much do you weigh? I'm about 215 pounds so I've got enough mass to steer a big board. If you weigh less than 200 pounds, a wide board might not be the best option for you.
