The crew at Giro gave the Encore 2 Helmet an advanced, durable construction, because eating it from 15 feet above the lip requires serious head protection. The Encore 2's low-profile skate style looks good without going overboard with tons of vents or extraneous features. 13 mesh covered vents provide ventilation, without letting snow in if you crash. Giro covered an impact absorbing EPS liner with a plastic shell for durability, so the Encore 2 will last through many seasons of riding.
Bottom Line: If want to progress, you're going to fall a lot. Protect your head in the Encore 2 Helmet.

Finally broke down & bought helmet. Great venting. Good comfort. Light.
Takes a beating from tree limbs splendidly, much better than rest of gear.
Sound of ice covered branches busting off hard plastic is a bit deafening.
BRIGHT ORANGE COLOR IS UNCOMMON AND WILL DEFINITELY GET YOU NOTICED BY SKI PATROL WHEN POACHING UNOPENED/OUT OF BOUNDS TERRAIN.
