If you chose the Carbon Credit, I can promise you wont be disappointed! The C.C. has some of the most value in it out of the entire Mervin Mfg. lineup! Some people think its more a beginner board because of the price, but it is so much more. It actually has a sintered base, magnetraction and an all aspen wood core. The board is a great all around board (mid flex & true twin) that is affordable and hand built in the USA by people who love to snowboard! How can you go wrong there?

Size ? i ride a burton custom 158 and very happy with it. i am
Size ? i ride a burton custom 158 and very happy with it. i am 5.10 and weigh 182pds. i was considering a smaller board for park and resort and basically learn to jump, rails etc. Do you think i should go for a 153 ?

I would agree with Dan, however if you are going to be spending a lot of time jibbing rails and that will be your priority, a 153 will allow you to press better.

At 182 Lbs, I would suggest going with the 156 as the smallest size. The core is profiled to be a little thinner in the smaller size to accommodate that persons spec's. The 153 would be fun, but more susceptible to breaking. Besides, the 156 has BTX (Banana Tech & Magnetraction) which almost makes it like you're cheating when it comes to jibbing!

I absolutely love this board. It's got great pop so it is awesome in the park, and is great for jibbing. It also will get you around the mountain and through the pow. You should definitely consider this board if you're looking for an all mountain board with no short-comings.

Banana tech floats great in powder! You can even size down with it for a more maneuverable board. The differences between this and the skate banana are the materials used and the geometries. They may both have BTX, but they are totally different boards. The similarities are their medium rated flex which make the board great for all around riding and they are true twin.
Dirty Pillow is in a class of it's own. True Twin freestyle Powder riding. Great for powder days at your local resort, but a very specific type of riding, not an all around, do anything kind of board.
The Carbon Credit is a great board with a lot of value built into it. Not a beginner's board, but a great board for someone on a budget. Transworld Good Wood winner!

Super versatile board at a decent price. Magnetraction helps on the hardpack and ice, and the banana rocker is pretty forgiving and playful. Definitely an "all mountain" board but it also handles well in the park. Good all over the mountain!

This is my first board with magnatraction and it feels realy good. Although this board is on the lower end of GNU, it still is a big step up from my Atomic board. Because the snow has been really limited in California this year, I have only ridden it twice. The first day there was tons of powder and to be honest, it was like learning how to ride all over again. I caught edges everywhere I road. My assumption it that it was me and not the board performing in powder. The second day riding was on groomed man packed snow. On groomed snow, the board was awesome. I'm more of an all mountain boarder and the board really impressed me on the slopes. There's enough flex to jib around and have fun, but it's stiff enough to have confidence on steeper hills. In addition, the magnatraction works wonders without having to lean too much to carve, very sensitive compared to my previous board. My level of riding would be above beginner to intermediate, nothing crazy. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because of my comparison to to Skate Banana my friend purchased. Both board have pretty much similar technology but the build quality of the Skate Banana seems much better (keeping in mind they are built by the same manufacture).

This is the best snowboard I have ever ridden. I have been riding for 23 years and owned dozens of boards. This board rocks. I am riding the wide model because I have big feet, and for a wide board this is more responsive then any door I have ever ridden, feels like a narrow board with no overhang. This board has re-invented the sport for me. Mervin deserves a hugeass award for snowboard technological innovation. I normally would not even bother to write a review, but this board deserves free ipod style advertising from peeps who know. Get this board you will not be sorry!
