Hi Eran, no this is definitely not a board for big feet... GNU does have a wide version of the "riders choice", back country Item: GNU0150

I am 54, 510 205lbs. with a 10.5 boot. I currently ride a 162 Burton Mololo. Great board in powder but just adequate everywhere else. No park, jibs or jumps, mostly all mountain. Im more aggressive in the POW but cruise pretty much the rest of the time.
Looking for a more versitle all round board and am leaning towards a GNU Rider's Choice C2 BTX. I am having trouble deciding between the 157.5, 161.5 or the 158 Wide. Demoed the 157.5 for three or four runs, and found it really fun and solid. Because Im use to the 162 Mololo, it felt a little short.
Because of my 205lbs. the 158 Wide may ride longer than it is and has more area than the 157.5 and the 162.5, which would be great in the POW, but Im concerned that edge to edge it may be sluggish. Any thoughts!

you can ride the 154 with no problem in terms of toe&heel drag, but u will be better off with the 157 if u don't want to sacrifice speed and stability.

I'm 6'0, 160 lbs, size 10.5 and I've been riding a 156 for 8 years. I was thinking about getting the 154.5 because I want to progress past just throwing 360's. However I spend just as much time in the back bowls as I do on the rails and kickers. Is the 154.5 gonna be too short for me?

I'm 17, weigh about 145 and am about 5' 7" and i really want this board, but i think the smallest size(151.5) would still be too big. It would almost defeat the purpose of getting a freestyle/park board if i got it. Am i right?

I`m thinking about buying this board, some pretty amazing reviews on this, also fits the way I ride....I`m 172cm and 65kg, wondering if the 151cm would fit me, I`m actually considering the 151cm for easier maneuverability....

I did some powder riding at crater lake with this thing last weekend and it performed exactly how i wanted it to. it floats through the pow and can spin so easily because of how light it is. I put the new cartel binding on it and got some thirty two boots so my whole set up is sooo light. love the board!
Can you ride an 11 boot on the 154.5?

Hey Ryan,
You can get away with it but this is a little narrow for ya. Id try to stay in the 250-260mm waist width range for you.

i cant decide if i want to get a c2 board or just a rocker board for what i ride, i ride at wilmot and its almost allways icey and i ride jumps and rails

Id go just rocker. Maybe like a Lib Tech Skate Banana, a GNU Park Pickle, or a Stepchild Jibstick if you ride mostly rails. C2 is really good but its a lot more expensive. If money isn't an issue then go C2, otherwise stick with regular rocker/banana tech.

i've always heard you can downsize on rockered boards. how much would you say you can downsize on a board like this?
Kris McGregor
Member since
Technically you can size down 5cm from you reg length board if you wanna go rocker. I personally wouldnt because I ride a 154 now and that would put me on a 149, and thats wayyyy too small lol. But lets say you ride a 156 regularly, I would say drop no more than 3cm. Plus with the magne-traction, it will bite better and be more forgiving. So really the 'looseness' you feel on a rocker board would be nulled with the magne-tration. Hope this helps

The Riders Choice is an excellent choice for someone looking to progress to the next level because it's so versatile that it'll do whatever you want to try. This has a similar flex to the TRS but with a less radical sidecut so its a little more forgiving. Very playful with plenty of pop to make ya say uhhhh
Sizing: I'm 6' and 185 with a low profile size 11 boot. I recommend going with 157 Wide for an all mountain stick.

After I learned to snowboard this was the board I really progressed on and its for a reason. This is one of the most versatile boards I've ever been on. It rides somewhat like my TRS but not as aggressive of a sidecut so its a little more forgiving but still has incredible pop. Since I had this board they've added the C2 which only makes it better since it holds a better edge without full BTX.
Sizing: I'm 6' and 185 with a low profile size 11 boot. I recommend going with 157 Wide for an all mountain stick.

How is the build quality for GNU. I have not heard too many good things for hard riders. I have been know to smack my Neversummer on rocks and anything that gets in its way and have had no problems... Can this live up to the same abuse?
EastCoastRider
Member since
I hit my fair share of trees and rocks last year with my T Rice and it took the abuse well. GNU's are made in the same factory as lib tech... they don't have the 3 year warranty of Never Summer but if you get your board from dogfunk you won't have any issues getting a replacement if anything should happen, their customer service is great

I like to ride all over the mountain in the trees, in the park and groomed runs would this board be good for that or ive been told the nitro team gullwing would be good for this type of riding. which one is the better one for this style of riding

this board kills all of it. the magnetraction wins for everything, and the c2 banana is playful and poppy, this is a better board for everything...the end
