Homeschool Naked Raygun Shell - Men's - 2011

Sometimes it seems like everyone on the hill is wearing the same freaking jacket. You're in the mood for something truly fresh. The Homeschool Naked Raygun Shell dishes out huge style with a unique design and hardcore features. It's a legit look that is rooted in full-on function.

  • Cocona Xcelerator membrane seals out moisture while helping water vapor escape through micro porous openings
  • The 25K-rated fabric will keep you dry when the snow is coming down hard
  • Fully taped seams prevent moisture from sleazing in through the stitching
  • Underarm zip vents help you ditch hot, swampy air when you start working up a sweat
  • Magnetic closures seal practically by themselves
  • Wind Hater Hood uses side shield panels to keep the wind off your face
  • Riri zippers offer big protection from the elements
  • Recycled polyester keeps Mother Nature feeling good

Bottom Line: Leave the herd behind.

Great jacket

By:
April 2, 2013

Picked this jacket up at the end of the 2013 season. New the jacket is a little stiff and the main zipper is a bit of a pain. But, the jacket as a whole "breaks in" after 2 uses and feels softer and the zipper is now like butter. The jacket cuts out the wind like you'd expect, I have not had the opportunity to test out the water expelling abilities. Perhaps next season. The pocket flaps are shaped a little weird but they work great if you forget to zip one of them up (which I often do). Baring being completely submerged in snow you shouldn't get any snow in your pocket, even with the pockets open.
So far so good, I don't have one complaint.
For reference, I'm 5'9" 170lbs and the medium fits great.

FANTASTIC

I love lightweight jackets especially this one. It has just enough pockets to hold everything, but isn't overcrowded. Ipod hook up through the coat is nice. Extremely water resistant and warm. Throw a sweatshirt underneath and you are ready to go. Runs kind of small for the sizes. I'm 5'7 and got a medium and it fits perfectly. Unsure about homeschool brand but I LOVE IT!

Great shell

This material is amazing! Best breathability I have had in a jacket. I don't over heat when I am hiking or charging hard. The pit vents don't have any mesh but they are effective. I am 6'1 180ish and the XL is a good fit for me (I like my jacket a little baggy) If you are around my size and want a "fitted" look go with the L. I can wear all my under layers and a demon snow protective vest with the XL no problem. Wrist gators would be nice but you can seal the wrists with the velcro system pretty well. This has become my new rain jacket it is so waterproof. Shells are the way to go and this one is the jam! Just make sure you have some good first layers for cold days. I highly recommend this brand and this jacket!

great jacket but...

...the arms are too short. This seems like a bomber piece and I was really stoked to get it but the sleeves are way too short for a large animal such as me. If Homeschool can add an inch or two to the XL for next season I will try them again.

I agree that the arms could be longer. I am 5' 9" 165lbs and have long arms. The Large size is very roomy (too roomy really) but if I went down a size the arms would be too short.

I am used to the problem though, and it's common in most active wear for me. Apparently I'm part ape with arms like these.

Other than that the jacket is amazing. Highly recomended.

Bomber gear

Perfect jacket for those who want to be sure you will not be getting wet from either snow, rain or your own sweat. This company is all about keeping you dry, the style is simple yet has all the feature you need and not the one that just weigh you down. People are always asking me about my jacket and pants. At these sales prices I almost want to buy a back up so when my dies in like 5 years I will be set!

By far the best.

I have ridden many jackets and many pants in my 13 years of riding but this one has exceeded them all. I usually go through 2 pairs of pants a season and at least one jacket. I put about 120 days on my homeschool gear this past season in NW weather. Rain, freezing rain, ass deep pow, ice, pretty much everything. The jacket and pants kept me dry and comfortable riding in all conditions. The pants probably took the most beating just because of parking lots and such but I am happy to say the cuffs are still solid! Another great thing is the jacket pant interface, say goodbye to snow in your pants! I recommend homeschool to everybody I know. Its truly amazing. Durable, waterproof, and breathable...BUY IT!

Awesome

I got this jacket this year and I love it. I have taken it out 7 or 8 days so far this season in a wide range of conditions. It keeps the wind out when it needs to and I didn't overheat when it got warmer. The zippers are a little stiff at first, but mine are already softening up a bunch already. Overall it's a pretty awesome technical jacket.
