Almost perfect!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This jacket is heavy duty. My locate MTN is Big Bear, CA. At first sight I thought that this jacket would be over kill (too thick=hot=sweaty & wet.) NOT SO-Riding this past weekend in 55 degree weather with the Homeschool Medium Weight base layer-NO swamp butt or wet pits. I didn't even have to use the pit zips (on jacket) or the leg vents on the pants to keep cool.I was blown away. Layer it up underneath and charge head on into the powder or rock in warm spring weather conditions. This stuff is the most versatile outerwear that I have worn in over 14 years of shredding!

The "darth wind hater" hood rocks. It takes a couple of runs to get used to it but once you do-it is a awesome feature if you like protecting your face! The Fog color looks white online and it has a grey tint to it in person. Sick color but it is NOT white. This gear is thicker and stiffer that your normal outerwear.

To make this perfect- I have 2 suggestions for improvement:

1. Make the openings a little larger on the pockets so you can stuff your hands in the pocket with your gloves still on. That way you can stay warm while you ride the lift on the windy days!
2. Offer some relaxed fit options for more athletic body types. If you are slender/normal body type you should be able to find the right size easily, if you have some "meat on your bones" good luck playing the "right size game". I normally wear a 44 regular suit jacket and the size large jacket is huge (just like Eric-I was swimming in it) the medium works but I could use a little more room in the chest/waist to allow for better layering. I am not the type that likes my gear over sized or baggy but I do like some room for movement and layering. WIth that said-it is still worth playing the right size game because this gear rocks! Good luck my fluffy/muscley friends ;)

All in all-5 Stars, you offer more accommodating sizes (relaxed fit not baggy) and I would give it 6 stars and you will dominate the snowboard outerwear market!

The best

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This jacket is on par with the top of the line Burton AK jackets. It is very heavy duty and well made. Made with 3.5 layers of their Cocona waterproof breathable fabric. It is a shell but because of its thickness it keep me warm with just base layer on most days. Great pockets and lots a great tech. The only downside for some people is that because of the 3.5 layers, it is a fairly stiff jacket. I actually like this as it really feels well made and durable. If you like then very thin and light feeling shells, this isn't for you. Don't get me wrong. It's not an insulated thick jacket but the shell material is thick and pretty stiff. Perhaps it will become more pliable as I use it more.

As far as size I am a 42 regular in suits so I ordered a large and I was swimming in it. I exchanged for a medium and it fits great but I personally like a more form fitting fit. If you like the baggy look and feel go with the suggested size based on their size chart. If you like a form fit, go one size smaller.

Forgot to mention that this jacket is on par with most waterproof and breathable jackets on the market. It lives up to its billing in these departments.

Does this jacket also work as a regular winter jacket? I really like the style. Thank you.

Hey Don,
This will work fine as a winter jacket- it is just a shell however so be sure to layer underneath for warmth!

Best Jacket you'll ever own

This is an insanely heavy duty, waterproof, and breathable. This jacket is built to last and will stand up season after season. The price is steep but the only thing that can compare to the homeschool stuff is the Burton AK, but homeschool is a lot more durable.

They hype up their Cocona tech in all their gear and it really is as breathable as they say.

If you get this jacket be sure to get the pants too because they zip together and don't let any snow in.
