Description

Your ticket to the white room.

The dream you had that one time about scoring with your hot freshman English teacher was nothing compared to the K2 Ultra Dream Wide Snowboard. That's because while you wouldn't have had a clue what to do had the teacher thing actually happened, you'll actually feel confident and capable when you're on the Ultra Dream. BC Shaping and an All Terrain Baseline profile with Tweekend rocker at top and tail make this the board of choice for slashing open powder fields, ripping through trees, and pointing it down steeps.

The Ultra Dream starts with K2's All Terrain baseline profile. This mostly flat profile employs slightly higher rise at the the tip than the tail to give the Ultra Dream a loose buttery feel and float in powder while maintaining responsive edge control and loads of pop. The directional shape uses K2's Backside Hyper Progressive sidecut, with an infinite number of turn radii that progress from mellow at the tips to aggressive between the bindings. The result is a predictable feel with tons of control, but with mellow, non-hooking contact points at the tip and tail. It's K2's perfect blend of precision and forgiveness.

The Bambooyah Blend core is made with a blend of renewable woods and ultralight, ultra-strong bamboo reinforcements with Honeycomb technology and Carbon Web II stringers. K2 finished off the recipe with the ultra-fast 4000 sintered base.

A Revelation!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've never loved a board more than the Ultra Dream. It floats through any amount of powder without bogging down or catching edges (and I've ridden through 2 ft plus in the trees at Steamboat this winter, but most of my time has been on the Mary Jane side of WP, typically in 6-12 inches of powder).

It is extremely responsive, and is definitely the fastest deck I've personally owned (amongst Burton, K2, and Never Summer boards). I'm sure it would suffer if I was riding terrain parks, but that ain't me. For trees, bumps, and back bowls full of fresh snowfall (which is all I'm interested in), it stands head and shoulders above the Never Summer deck I rode last year.

If you're a bigger dude (I wear a size 13 boot, stand 6'3, weigh in around 200lbs) that likes to cruise powder, I cannot recommend the Ultra Dream (wide, 165cm) highly enough. I'll probably buy next year's model before the start of the 14-15 season, thats how much I love it!
