Lib Technologies Banana Magic BTX Snowboard - 2009

Lib Tech scientists ventured deep in the Amazonian rainforest searching for a mystical tree rumored to hold the key to eternal youth. Successful in their quest, they came back with a few bunches of Lib Tech Banana Magic BTX Snowboards. Returning to the lab they dissected the freshly picked, Banana Magic BTXs in order to obtain their secrets. What they found was shocking, even to the masterminds of snowboarding technology.

  • Nature friendly, Granit Sparkle Beans contain the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any top sheet material in the industry
  • Magne-Traction edges let you turn so fast you could dodge bullets- almost
  • Numerically Enhanced Banana Technology makes for a loose but controlled ride and legendary pop
  • 100% Basalt Fiber reinforced construction gives you freedom from the Eco-bashing properties of fiberglass
  • Z-Spots consist of Z-Axis organic fibers for enhanced control and sensitivity

Bottom Line: Ok, so Lib Tech didn’t find this in the rainforest, and it won’t let you live forever, but it is one magical banana.

A truly magic banana

By:

This board looks amazing, the entire top sheet/graphics sparkle like big pieces of glittler, really trippy! I got the 158wide to replace the 161wide mtx dark series I've been riding the last 2 seasons. Going 3cm shorter since u don't need as much length on a banana, I was deciding between the banana magic 158w & the dark series 158w c2btx. I really wanted to try c2btx but the 158 dark series has limited/narrow stance options, I'm 6'4 190lbs & need some space between my feet, so I went w/ the banana magic. This board is a featherweight, my old dark series was one of the lightest boards I had ridden, well the banana magic at just under 7lbs is almost 1.5lbs lighter! Just want to clarify, this board does NOT have asymmetrical sidecuts like the park pickle, to my surprise it does appear to have mild c2btx! I laid the board on a large mirror & there is definitely rocker at the nose and tail, I put my wife's TRS btx on the mirror for comparison, no rocker, just banana. I'm not sure why Lib Tech didn't advertise the banana magic as c2btx, but after riding it, I don't care which it has, the board is amazing! Pop, stability, & carving is what this board is all about! Coming from a mtx(no banana) dark series, I have grown used to tons of pop & the banana magic delivers, my friend even commented after I did a cab 3 on flat ground, that he'd never seen me ollie that high! It's weird because it's so forgiving when doing presses and manuals, (for the serious jibber, look elsewhere, although it can still be pressed, it is too stiff, & better suited to a freestyle park/all mountain rider that occasionally hits rails) feels more flexible, but has so much pop, it must be a combo of bananas & basalt! Basalt is the future of snowboarding, not only is it environmentally friendly, but it makes the board feel stable, like there are shock absorbers built in and it's quiet due to less vibrations! Overall I can go really fast & stay more relaxed! Ironically, carving is where this board really shines! I never would have expected this board would carve so good and feel so responsive. The nose and tail are super wide allowing the sidecuts to be ridiculously deep, you can lean & throw your weight into turns like your riding a carve board, yet it's so responsive you can change directions & weave in & out like, well, like nothing I've ever ridden! This all equates to a board that truly rides like magic! If I could give it 10 stars, I would, it's expensive, but worth every penny! GET THIS BOARD, it makes snowboarding so much better!

Well put! It truly is through the sales of US-made boutique snowboards that China's communist society and economy thrives. I do hope someday that Lib Tech, and Mervin altogether, for that matter, return to their Marxist homeland and stop peddling their superior, high quality, innovative goods on the US market.

Banana Magic - It really is magic!

By:
September 30, 2009

First of all, I work for Mervin Mfg. so it's up to you whether to believe me or not. This is by far the most fun I've ever had snowboarding. I was lucky enough to get one last January. This board has a 7meter sidecut, which is TIGHT! It does the tightest little turns you could ever imagine but is still stable on longer turns. Because of the powerful construction (basalt fiber/no fiberglass) the board just accelerates out of turns. I rode it most of the rest of last season and when I rode something else, I was kind of wishing I was back on the Magic. I'm not a park guy so I didn't ride rails with it. But it is banana so I'm sure it works great in the park. Bottom line: completely different than any snowboard I've ever ridden. Mike Olson's favorite board! Fun!!!

What you don't get out of the photos is that the topsheet graphics are all in glitter. The thing is just crazy looking when the light hits it.

Finally uploaded my own photos, see above
