We had to summit a secluded peak in the Himalayas to gather the secrets of the Lib Tech Banana Magic BTX Snowboard. There we found a floating monk who spoke to us of its Horsepower construction and other mystical powers.
Numerically enhanced Banana Tech and Magne-Traction combine their spells of awesomeness to reward you with a powder-hungry flow that still bites into the gnarliest, icy slopes you can find
Horsepower construction utilizes the essence of a golden, genetic-hybrid tree from deep in the wizardly forests of the Pacific Northwest and no Earth-nasty fiberglass is used in the processmaking for one of the lightest, strongest, and life-friendly cores in the known universe
100% Basalt is used instead of fiberglassnot only does it remove the need for noxious processes but basalt provides better dampening, more strength, and a lot more pop than fiberglass while weighing in 30% lighter than glass
We were having a safety meeting while the floating monk explained the Magical Mystery Sidecuts but he assured us the super smooth ride would explain their purpose to everyone who gets a taste
Perfect twin geometry allows you to ride forwards or backwards through time and take over the worldOk, we only wish that were true, but you can still ride switch like a bad muthaf*ka
Bio beans sparkle topsheet is eco-friendly and sparklesdouble bling!
Double Sintered UHMW sidewalls are twice as powerful as any other sidewalls will ever be
Demo'd this board in OR on a powder day. I'm 5'4, 130 ibs and rode a 152. Advertised as an elite grip and rip board (it's a Lib!)this magic carpet blew my f*ing mind with its powder prowess, I snapped one up soon as I got home. Who needs a man whn you can ride a Banana Magic?
Dogfunk.com knows that no one wants the used-car-salesman experience, so we decided to show you the other guys prices in an effort to keep your shopping experience as informed as possible. This thing has crazy rocker with a C2btx they say its BTX but its c2 for sure. I got such a deal another e retailer sent me this years for last years price oops . I'm stoked . Stiff for freestyle board .Unless C2 isnt a camber after the rocker . Weight the rocker forward on the floor and there's a camber .
If you've read the whole Never Summer vs Mervin C2 patent war, Mike Olson says libs been putting c2 into boards since the beginning but at first they weren't marketing it as c2. They were calling it all banana. Maybe they are still doing it
LibTech has started to manufacture boards with different bases/topsheets,, in other words,, you are not going to get a 152cm board that are the same,, it can happen,, but rare,, hope this helps..//
has anyone ridden the Skate Banana before this Magic?? What are the major differences between these two boards besides price/graphics?? is it worth the xtra cheeze??..//
i've rode both. the skate banana is more flexxy, with less stability. doesn't hold up as well off jumps. if your going for rails with a flexxy feel go for the skate banana. if your hitting kickers or want to pull off a clean nose/tail slide, get the stiffer banana magic.
I support products that are eco. friendly and/or that are made in the states. I'm a union man myself (labor/craftsmen union that is), so id like to keep as many jobs here as i can, but the mark up for these products is almost ridiculous. Is the performance difference worth the extra coin? I personally take the "greener" route whenever possible, even if i pay a little extra. But thats a of set of bindings for that much money. excuse me while i hug this tree.
Not as stiff as the T.Rice or the Dark Series but not as noodly as the Skate Banana. Great in the park. Actually, great all over the mountain. Riden some deep spots on this at Baker and Stevens Pass and it glides through pow like a hot knife through butter.
yes, i had last year's (it broke) and now have this year's (thanks mervin!). i'm 5'6, 165, boot size 8.5. i ride a 157.
differences: - there is definitely some c2 on this one. it's less wobbly at high speeds, but as a result it also wants to grab an edge earlier than the old model did. i'm ok with that. last year's was fun as shit because it felt like a banana, but for an "everything" board the slight c2 helps here.
- the construction is better on the topsheet. the edges of my board looked like total carnage because of lift lines. this year's seems to absorb the dents rather than getting all frayed and splintery. i haven't had to use any crazy glue yet, whereas last year i would have to apply it on dings after every other trip.
- only weirdness: i'm a bit concerned about construction on the metal edging. it looks like there are a bunch of gaps where they meet the board. it hasn't been a problem yet but i did take photos of it new in case i have to return it under warranty later.
This does have c2 . I contacted mervin direct and they told me it has a slight camber on the front and back and it has the most banana too. I have it in my living room now. So sick. you can see the c2 when u put it on a flat surface. Pray for snow!
You should be good w/57 . I got 58w w/ a 10.5 boot and didnt really need it . I just like the extra surface area and for carves . Its stiff for a freestyle board . I got mine from e retailer who screwed up and sent me this years for last years blowout price . OOOps I know Dogfunk would never let that slip through .
just used it today for like 5 hours straight. i couldn't go inside because i just couldn't get off the thing. i'm going to sleep with it tonight. this thing is probably the GREATEST thing you will ever ride in your entire life. it makes me happy thinking about how much fun it is.
Does this have C2? Last year's model didn't advertise having C2, but I read a review that said it still had slight C2. I love this board, but I'm looking for something with C2.
I was hoping to get a TRS BTX C2 but they were out so I got this instead. The topsheet takes some getting used to since it looks like a bass boat but the ride is excellent. I'm coming off a GNU Altered Genetics MTX the dampening is definitely improved and looking down the side...if this were a piece of lumber you sure wouldn't buy it. Nevertheless rode it the first day in the 22' half pipe at Mammoth Mountain and it felt real good. Rode it the second day in 16" pow and if you are 200+ you better get more than a 57 if you plan on riding powder. Rides like a skateboard on the hard stuff but not like the mullet in the pow.
Lib Tech introduced Horsepower to a couple boards this year and each of these boards comes with a nice sparkly graphic. Horsepower utilizes a fast growing renewable wood, basalt resins instead of fiberglass, and a castor bean top sheet. On top of all these things making the construction of the board more eco friendly, they are all suppose to make the board a more lively responsive ride. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet but I can't wait!
Demoed this stick last season, and it was ok... IT was said to be the board that turns a few inches into a few feet, not so much... I like the T.Rice with the c2 way more, better responce, lots more pop. I also cant belive they are trying to get 700 for this thing. Save yourself some money and get a better lib tech for less
I agree, C2 is amazing, but this is a good board too. The price comes from the materials used and also the fact that its hand made in the usa by snowboarders for snowboarders instead of some sweatshop by kids who have never even seen snow
Different strokes for different folks, but the materials used in this board warrant the price. if you can source the Golden Fleece somewhere for cheaper, let us know! The lumber also comes from a local source and is only available form them... So the whole supply/demand thing there. Come back this season and try one in CO and I'll change your mind. Have an awesome season!
