With a size 9 boot you don't need a wide. It will be slower edge to edge for you. Wide boards are generally made for guys with size 12 or larger boots.

hey guys i need some help here. Im 5 8 140 lbs and where a size 9 boot. Im looking for a smaller board than my last one so i was wondering if i would be able to ride to 148 even though its narrow. Or should i go with the box scratcher which i hear is pretty much the same board but much wider. but then would the box scratcher be too wide for a size 9?
Thanks

A 148 would be pretty small for someone your size. i am 5'10 and 138 and im not going under a 155 this year. i had a 152 skate banana last year and it was perfect for me.

If you want to go that small, I highly reccomend a Box Scratcher. The 148 narrow will be too small (fun still) and could break on you.
The scratcher was made for larger people to ride really fun short boards that spin like mad, but still provide some stability.

Best snowboard I've ever owned. I can tame the entire mountain and jump off of anything. I have owned the highest priced boards from both K2 and Rome and the only thing that comes close to as fun to this board is the Rome Mod ?(very expensive)Pros: Light, unexplainabley fast (even with scratches idk why, great on ice, twin tip, plenty of pop with enough flex to absorb some gnarly crashes, and looks awesome!Cons: Not everyone has one, and they will fade it color if you don't wax every 3 rides.

RC boards are awesome, but I don't think there's any reason to buy it shorter. Yes, they float better, but let it be an added benefit, not a complete overhaul on how you buy a snowboard. For best results, buy your regular size. Other people may say the opposite, but they're also from Florida.

Whats up with narrow boards? are there any advantages( specifically jib wise)? Ive been riding wider boards for the past 8 years but i only run a size 9.5 boot, up here in the northwest we ride sketchy terrain even when theres no pow... so whats up with narrow decks?
Kris McGregor
Member since
Some people just like to ride a slimmer deck, so some companies have adapted this into their line-up of boards. For most, its easier to get a more narrow board around. I ride a wide deck(Rome Machine) and when I jump on a mid-wide its like a whole other world lol. So really its just personal prefernece, but with a narrower board plus the reverse camber, it will definately be sketchier at higher speeds. Altho it does have magne-traction and that tech really does work wonders when you're bombing a run. It is a park specific deck tho, aaand you prob wont be goin mach 20 anyways down the mountain. So realistically you prob wont notice much of a difference other than the transition from toe to heel will be a quicker turn over. But really, smaller feet=narrower board

It's not park-specific, Sammy Leubke rocks that shit down everything in the pow

I am 6'2" 210lbs and i wear size 11/12 (usually 12, but my northwave legends are size 11).
So far i only rode on a nitro target fuser 159w and a pair of forum faction bindings. I would describe myself as an advanced beginner. I started out in february of 2009, but so far was able to get some 11 weeks of snowboarding.
I was thinking of getting the banana because of magne traction and since it's a twin. I am not what will reverse camber do for me, but i'm willing to give it a try. I'm looking for something that would act as an all-mountain / freestyle setup, something i could ride on the groomers and practice tricks and switch.
Would a 159w do me good? My normal board feels a bit short in that size, but i understand a rocker should run smaller?
Ed Carley
Member since
159 might ride a bit short for you at 6'2 and 210#. Reverse camber makes the board easier to butter and float better in deep powder. I ride a 156 weighting in at 190 to 180 (depending on the season) and 5'8 for all mountain freestyle, so the board works for that type of riding, however, on chop and in moguls it can be a really rough ride as the skate banana is really really soft. If you think you will be doing more park/rail riding, the skate banana is a good ride though, and a 159 would probably work. If you are more interested in charging steeps and huckin cliffs you might want a longer stick.

Say i get a color that i am not happy with. What is the return policy/exchange on the banana? could i return until i get the desired color?
Connor Kerkezian

yeah, DogFunk has the best return policy. Unlimited if you want to return a board 3 years down the road you can. but the only catch is that you have to pay 7 dollars for shipping.
so to answer your question yes you can return until you get the righ color.

Hi Is Luca from Australia am a free riding board only spend little time in the park if there is a lots of powder so am toasting between the narrow or wide banana 156cm. Am 5.9' 85kg intermediate level and quite aggressive ride on carving, but I start to love powder more then ever so my next try will be Canada. Also I was thinking to buy the ride contraband binding, what you think?
Thanks

the banana is really a park board, they advertise it as an all mountain board, but it lacks the stability needed for going fast. you'd be much better off with a Lib Tech T Rice, Dark Series, or Never Summer SL-R
if you want good bindings go with union, other brands simply aren't up to the quality of union, unions are the lightest you are gonna find and are totally bombproof. Union Forces or Datas would be good for the riding you do

im 6'0" tall. weigh 145 and wear a size 11 boot. should i get the 152 bananna or the 156? i ride mostly park but every time i go i ride down the full mountin at least once.

156 Wide.
Size 11 is kind of big for the regular width. Your height warrants a larger board and you'd probably need the wider stance and stability that the '56 will give you.
Kris McGregor
Member since
Seeing as rider height has NOTHING to do with the size, you can ride whichever you want. Riding a longer board is a personal preference. Its your weight that determines that length of your board. So if you ride mainly park then get a shorter deck, and if you cruize everything, try to get something that you will feel comfortable on. Just because your buddy that has been riding for 10 years has a shorter deck, doesnt mean you have to, you know? Whatever will feel more comfortable and stable for you is the one to get. Cheers brotha
