The word is out about Lib Tech’s Skate Banana BTX Snowboard—the insanely fun ride that rips everywhere from park to pow was tough to keep secret. The only issue was that every other dude on the hill had the exact same board—a minor problem Lib addressed by releasing the Assorted Bananas version in a variety of mind-bending colors!
Banana Tech features rocker between your feet and a flat tip and tail for a jibby, catch-free ride that still rips in the pow
H-Pop core uses a variety of lightweight woods for ollie power and durability
Magne-Traction edges add five contact points for extra control and turning power in all snow conditions
Sintered base helps you chase down your friends during on-hill games of tag
Soft flex between your feet, with a stiffer tip and tail improve pop and edge control
Sorry, we can't pick a specific color for you out of the warehouse - but they're all awesome!
Bottom Line: The game-changing all-mountain jib stick, now with extra mysteriousness.
Hey am currently riding a 154, bought it new off a friend but i'm only 5 4'' definitely still growing. just love this board rode it on everything this last season, when i bought it i was riding more pow but am now finding my self not wanting to leave the park i wear 9 mens and am thinking for easier manuever i want a smaller board. What size should i get?
The skate banana is the most amazing snowboard you can have. Its very playful but can handle high speeds also. I live on the ice coast so i know what ice is, and this board shreds it, the only way that you would know your riding on ice is if you fall on it. The banana is also very forgiving, unlike camber boards. The only way for you to experience this board though is to ride it, and youll love it. The skate banana is the best snowboard for any type of riding that you can get.

There are a million and one things about this board that could be said to convince you to buy it, and instead of me telling you all these amazing things, you just need to go out and get one your self, see the amazingness for your self then fall in love like everyone else who owns one
well if your an all-mtn rider, Go with the forces, they destroy everything, but if you wanna save a couple bucks go with the contacts, just dont expect a whole lot of responsiveness from them
Color choice is not an option, but hey, that's part of the fun. You're not going to care what color you get when you ride this thing down the mountain and slay everything from that S Box to your best friends mom.
Hi, I want to buy a skate banana board but I'm not sure what size. I'm 6 feet (1.83 meters) tall and my weight is around 165 lb. (75 Kg). I was thinking to buy the 156 but maybe the 154 is better... I don't know... Please help me take this decision. Thank you.
get the 154 for sure. Bananas are meant to ride small. I am 6'1'' and around 190 lbs and ride the 156 and love it. It broke on its 5th season, longest lasting board i have ever had
This board is amazing, the reverse camber makes it way easier to do butters, its good in powder and its good on park. All around its a great board that i recommended buying
How does this compare to the Neversummer Evo (2011) /GNU street series and the Amplid Dopamine (2011)?
Looking for a board softer than the one I have atm (APO Selekta 2011) But can still be used for mainly jibbing and a bit of all mountain. I find it difficult to flex my 153 APO. I'm only 126lb/9st so im thinking smaller board with a softer flex. Any help picking between these would be appreciated. :)
Hey mate, they only ship Lib Tech to USA and Canada. I suggest you look in to a mail forwarding service to work around this problem.
You can see what brands they don't ship out of US/Canada here: http://sales.liveperson.net/hc/s-9551721/cmd/kbresource/kb-6198280197900638241/view_question!PAGETYPE?sc=84&sp=97&sf=101133&documentid=239527&action=view&VisitorProfile=DogFunk&MESSAGEVAR!home=no&MESSAGEVAR!cookie=no
You're fine on most normal width board for sure. The two you are looking at in particular are mid-wides anyway which is perfect for you. Generally you don't need to worry about a wide board until you're in the 11+ range.
hello im 5f5" around 133lbs size 8uk thinking of getting one of these boards ...what size of board would be best for me? also do you ship to the uk..im in the highlands of scotland?..love the boardz cant wait to get on one...
Definitely go with either the 148 or 151...I would suggest the 151 if you're still growing, otherwise the 148 would probably be best. I'm 6' 160lbs and I ride a 155 in most boards. Unfortunately we cannot ship Lib Tech out of North America, sorry for the inconvenience.
Hey, I want to purchase this Skate Banana for a friend but I'm not sure what size board he'll be. He's 178cm and 78kg. Also, is the colour of the board a luck of the draw?
Thinking about getting this board, I'm 5'7 and 110 lbs, thinking 148 but it says 'narrow'. Just wondering how narrow is it? My boot size is 8 and I don't want any toe drag.
Hey, I wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I'm 6ft, 80kgs (175lbs) and have been riding last yr's 152 banana in AUS conditions. Looking to up it to a 156/156W this year. I have size 10.5 boots.
Plan on using it all over the mountain with a bit of park here and there. Any advice? cheers!
Based on your intended use (and your stats), the 156 should be perfect. It's short enough for some fun in the park but also provide you with a good stable all mountain riding experience.
This is the best board on the market...I have rode over ten boards over the past few years and i hopped on my buddys banana and it was like a whole different ride. The new technology will take off i am sure because it only makes sense. I was riding on basically ice and held and edge like never before. It takes all of the sketchyness out of snowboarding to the point where i felt i was cheating. If your going to drop the coin on a board, go with this one. I will have me one when i graduate college and get a big boy job...unless the price miraculously get cut in half and it will be sooner. Buy it you wont regret it.
sup, could someone head me in the right direction? want a Banana bad.. just a bit confused as to what size to get... i'm about 5'7.5 and weigh about 175. should i be getting a 156?? cheers
Yeah you could. That would be a nice all around size. Like I aways say downsize for park and go bigger if you're getting one as a strict pow board for whatever reason. If you ride a bit of everything you got it dialed at 156.
I want to buy two snowboards. One of the freestyle, and an all mountain / freeride. Lib tech thought (because Magna-Traction, and I go to a lot of artificial snow). Burton Joystick 159w now, but it is very unstable. I plan to Skate Banana freestyle, and Travis Rice c2btx every mountain / freeride. What do you think it's a good idea? What would be the ideal size for me? Skate Banana 156W, Travis Rice 161.5? Or rather, it would be just one? Skate Banana or Travis Rice? How large? Where I live (Hungary), there is no try! I was 3 years snowboarding, I'm learning the tricks (360, 540, butter ....) [$]
i ride a 161.5 t.rice and am buying a 156 skate banana (or gnu park pickle, reading this post to decide) for park. im same dimensions as you but a bit heavier (100kgs!) i float just fine in pow on the 161.5. i have been ridin a stiff board with regular camber in the park and love the feel of the t.rice when i have the odd park rip on it so cant wait to ride somethin shorter with a bit more flex. having two boards is the way of the future though man so invest in both, you cant go wrong.
I guess it depends what you plan on doing. I would say if freeride/ every mountain means to you powder and cliffs up o 25ft then get the skate banana. the t rice is meant for backcountry, big jumps and big cliffs. Its pretty stiff and would b hard to butter on and wouldnt be to forgiving on harder landings. As for the size i'd go 156 but thats up to you i weigh 160 and i ride a 152.

Ask around, when your snowboarding with your friends, and you see random people with these boards, Go ask then what they think of it and that your interest in a board like that, start doing your research! thats how i get my boards is asking around at the park
I've been riding for about 9 years. Started with burton, went to a forum, then a GNU and got a banana at the end of last season. I love it. I'm 5' 11" 200 pounds and decided to downsize the board, currently riding a 156 wide. At first I thought I made a mistake downsizing from a 159, but I have been more than happy. This board is so forgiving off jumps that its unreal. Your thinking bail in the air and you come down hard on the tail and she's forgiving as post boarding nap. So buttery on boxes; I've never felt so locked into a tail press before. I really couldn't rave anymore. Rips in the powder, great control at high speed, super forgiving in sketchy situations... GETCHA STEEEEEZ ON. All I Gotta say is be a man and rock the NAN! -Crip Freehorn
Im your size exsactly and ride a 152. I understand you'll have an easy time with the 148 but the 152 personally for me has no troubles. go with what feels right to you measuring up, not whats popular.
Burton Hero is good for jibs. Flexible, forgiving, buttery. But it will suck everywhere else. Skate Banana is better for riding a little faster, larger jumps, all-mountain, and powder. Skate Banana is also better for hard snow and ice.
I ride a 148 2009 skate banana and i ride mostly powder and park also. im 5' 7" and it is perfect for me. dont get any bigger than a 152. also set your bindings as wide as they get if they arnt all ready.
I am about 5'8 and 130lbs and love park and pow more than anything but i still would like to ride everywhere else a little bit and ive been told so many different sizes and am confused. which size would be best for me. im thinking the 154 or 152.
You're my height but a couple lbs lighter. I've just gone for the 154. From the type of riding you do, I'd say this would be a good choice for you as well. It'll give you a little better float in the pow and still kill in the park and when you do take it on the groomers it'll be a tad more stable at speed.
Hi I'm an intermediate rider, 170cm/143lbs/US9, what length board would you recommend? I ride a bit of everything, but mainly jibbing about in the trees, on-piste and off-piste - i not a speed freak, although occasionally like to blast a few runs. I was thinking a 149 or 152 but the guy in the shop recommended a 156! I've read that you should ride the banana shorter... help much appreciated!
@rasmasyean thanks for your thoughts. Went for a 154 in the end, after much deliberation. All the expert advise kept pointing me towards the 156, but decided to go a little shorter - hopefully the right decision and a whole lot of fun - can't wait to get on the slopes and test it out! Cheers everyone and happy shredding!
Oh, and when they said it can be ridden "shorter" I think they are talking about more fluffy snow because it floats from the banana shape so you don't need a longer board. But I don't think it works any better on groomers this way. As a matter of fact, it's worse at higher speeds than a camber board on groomers.
I'm like that 130lb buy and got the 148N for jibbing about. Since you're like 10% heavier and want it for jibbing about too, I'd go for 152. If you want to ride more at speed and in general cruise faster, then 156.
@mat4208874 thanks for your answer. I've been leaning towards to the 152 as i want something i can hit the whole mountain on, but maybe the 149 will still be ok for that? Anyone with further advise/experience much appreciated. Thanks!
im 5 10 and about 140 pounds and im wondering if the bannana is the best board for me because i have heard bannas are not the best for large jumps but i am kinda a rider who goes all over the park what should i do???
Banana's are not good for large jumps where you spin. Or if you go really fast.
They tend to wash out or overspin if you don't land perfectly. But if you're doing something under 30 foot, and maybe just slow spins, it's not that bad. But I can do a ground 180 at high speeds and with a stiff camber board it locks on to stop your rotation. The banana tends to be less stable and can wash out more easily. But it's more forgiving so it will overspin instead of putting you on your face like the stiff camber board (which happened to be a Lib Tech Dark Series).
I ride this board on powder days because of the Reverse camber and it works great! I've also taken it into the park a few times and have been happy with it! I see this board all over the mountain and everyone who I've talked to who rides this board loves it!

The Skate bananas are going to be one of the best. They are made by Mervin manufacturing out of Washington and are made by snowboarders. The quality on the skate banana is awesome. There is definitely the technology and quality in that price tag. If you just cannot afford that I would check out the Gnu Park Pickle, Ride Kink, or Forum Scallywag are all popular and good quality park boards for less.
Hey im buying my first board/park board. I have done alot of research and I have come down to two boards that iv heard good things about. I need somthing that will do good on jibs, in park, and on the pipe. Im looking at either the skate banana or the Ride dh2.4, i have heard great things about both but my concern with the skate banana is that its not good on pipe which would be a issue. What would you recommend I do, or is there a better board I didnt mention that I should check out? also what size would you recommend for me? im 6ft 165lbs and wear a 13 boot. Last but not least I have some old flow bindings, would that be fine to stick on my new park board?
The Skate Banana is a go everywhere, do everything kind of board. Make sure you get one of the wides and might I suggest the 159 since you're about my size/weight. Pipe boards are usually a little on the stiffer side, but the banana is considered to be a bit softer. The wide/159 should make up the extra stiffness that you'll want for pipe riding. Banana teck will alleviate the sluggish turning feeling traditional wide boards have, which is good all around. The magnetraction on the Skate banana is what set's Mervins "rocker" boards apart form all other rocker boards on the market. Dull the edges so you can jib rails/boxes and you'll still be able to hold a solid edge in the half pipe!! MAGNETRACTION!! I have some friends that slide sideways on the Ride DH board, and they love it too, so happy hunting!
Im 5 foot 3 95 pounds and have a size 9 foot i ride park all the time except sometimes i ride groomers. What boards woulld you recomend for me?Please answer and also what would bee a good size for me?
The 149 or 152 is a fitting size for you. Depending on what kind of park you're riding... More boxes and rails vs. larger park jumps, the banana should be great, but if you need some more end to end stability, the Gnu Riders Choice may be a better fit. Good thing about the Skate Banana is that there is very little transition period for getting used to the board and liking it. (couple runs is all)
Im considering either this or the Never Summer Revolver. Which one should I get? Ive read a lot of reviews about this board. I have size 12-13 feet. Im 5'11 and weigh 160lbs. If i buy this, should i get the 156 or the 159. Will I have a lot of toe/heel drag? I stick to park but hit the groomers here and then. I have a 160 and kind of wanted a shorter board. THANKS!
lib tech's are sweet but they are not as durable as one would hope...ive seen plenty of these come into the shop with some dings around where the effective edge and board side wall meet...not to say other boards are bomb-proof but to some extend the revolver will suffice more so than the banana... but... id wait and see what next year's graphic will be for the revolver (its SWEET)
you do not need a wide its all about your stance i have a size 12 boot and ride the bataleon riot 155 regular not a wide i have no heel or toe drag and i do alot of park the 159 is a better desicion.
This is one of the funnest boards on the market in my opinion. With that said, it doesn't do everything well though. This board is epic in the powder and super fun to butter around the park in. However its not what I'd want to be on if you're riding icy steep conditions. Even though you have BTX, nothing holds an edge like a cambered board.
Sizing: I'm 6' and 185 lbs, Size 11 boot (low profile with footprint of a 10) and I recommend a 156 wide. You can get away with a nonwide but with the shorter effective edge you will get washout on aggresive turns that will be necessary sometimes.
I just bought this board and I am worried of the fact that im going get a binding that wont be compatiable with it (if thats possible). With that being said, what would be the best bindings to go with the skate banana. I was thinking of getting the burton missions est since i have burton boots.
yeah you can really get whatever kind of base plate you want these days it dosnt matter if its est or something different 4 hole base plate is cheep and can solve the problem.
yeah you can really get whatever kind of base plate you want these days it dosnt matter if its est or something different 4 hole base plate is cheep and can solve the problem.
i would avoid going with anything burton so long as they are doing the est/ics system on their boards... its just another "simpler" design from a douchie company that has not back their products for over 5 years... EXAMPLE: i want to buy a baron ES or a Vapor (both have that waffle alum. core) that is used on the space luner lander or w/e...but what they fail to tell you is that the product tends to compress (and it can only compress once) thus if you hit a rock (and compress the base) you are FUCKED ;)
Flux sr30 or flux ds45 the burton est will not be compatible with this board becaust est is made for burtons channel boards. Burton is a very bad company in my opinion they are over price and are not very reliable.
I'd like to get my 16 year old son a new board for christmas since he is riding a hand-me-down. He is 6'1" and 165-170 lbs with a size 13 shoe. The board he rides now is a 161W. He has been riding for a couple of years now and does freeride and frestyle. Should I stick with that size since he is use to it?
Unless he only rides freestyle, I wouldn't recommend this board in particular since it is difficult to freeride on larger slopes because of its flex. It is extremely flexible and takes a lot of getting used to, especially if he does not have a lot of riding experience. If he has a size 13 shoe I would recommend he DOES get a wide board, otherwise his boots/bindings will be hanging over the edge. A 161W would be fine for him in a freeride board and he could even step down to something like a 156W, 157W, or 159W depending on the board. The more flexible the board, the more amount it can take before breaking, and therefore the more flexible the board, the smaller of a size he can get. Depending on his abilities, a versatile board would probably be a better choice versus this all freestyle board.
This board does not come in a 161 wide, my first board was a 155 and i just picked up this board in a 152, havent used it yet though. We're talking a 2 centimeter difference, chances are he won't notice it but if he does I'm sure he will adjust to it.
the color thats it, these have all the same tech, the only difference is that these are random colors and the original is only green and yellow and black... hoped that helped
Just wondering if the lib tech boards are going to go on sale? I'm in no rush as I'm in oz and our snow seasons now over but wouldn't mind picking up a setup for next year. Also I was wondering if someone could recomend a size for me I've been riding 154cm but not sure if it's right. I'm just under 6" and am 85kgs. And if you could recomend some bindings too. Thanks for you help. Cheers
156 should have a lot left for end of season if last year is any indication. They make a lot of those "in between" sizes. Small ones go the fastest and is real tough to get on sale, esp the pink. This board is real popular so even though they make a lot, some color/size combo's might be not that easy to get on sale if you're picky.
Not until the end of the season when Dog Funk has there "big ass sale" but if you want something now id look more toward last years models board and for your size id say that you should probably go up a size to a 156 for the size it will be a better fit for someone of your weight.
hey, im 13 and am looking for a board. im pretty good and i need something that will handle good in park. im leaning towards the box scratcher, but i dont know what size. i about 120 pounds and 5 foot 5.
if you want a nice board and want it to last and be a great board in park. id get a 147 butners box scratcher and that way you will have a nice board and a little room to grow into it.
Hi, I'm looking to buy my first board, I'm 6ft, 190lb, size 12 boot. I ride mountain atm, but will look to get into the park a bit. I'm not sure which size i should get, a 156W or 159W...any suggestions? Will the 156W handle my weight?
David's right about only a 1" difference, but if you're lookin to slay the park I'd go with the 156, it'll handle your weight for sure and you'll be able to spin and jib way easier. The "banana" part of this or rocker will make it feel longer for when you want to float the pow on that snowy day
Go with the 159W. Sure the 56 will handle your weight it's only about 1" difference in size, but the 59 will probably be better suited and will be able to go a little faster.
I'm about your size (a bit heavier) and usually ride between 160w and 164w.
