Lib Technologies Skate Banana Original BTX Snowboard - 2010
Lib Tech’s Skate Banana Original BTX is a snowboard that needs no introduction. But what the hell, we’ll introduce it anyway. Combined with Magne-Traction edges, the industry-changing Banana Tech rocker shape makes for maximum freestyle fun on any terrain—from early-morning stash runs to icy parks to slushy dork-off laps with the crew.
Banana Tech features rocker between your feet and a flat tip and tail for a jibby, catch-free ride that still rips in the pow
H-Pop core uses a variety of lightweight woods for ollie power and durability
Magne-Traction edges add five contact points for extra control and turning power in all snow conditions
Sintered base helps you chase down your friends during on-hill games of tag
Soft flex between your feet, with a stiffer tip and tail improve pop and edge control
Available in yellow/green or grey/black…your choice!
Bottom Line: The rocker board that started a revolution.
No surprises here, the all black topsheet is my favorite colorway of the banana this season! Yellow and Green for the traditionalists. Still the same great tasting banana flavors as previous seasons with some added sizes and widths.
Often imitated, never duplicated. Magnetraction is what sets us apart and above the rest!

This boards flex is rediculous. Its changed the way i ride completely and was perfect for progressing me into the more extreme stage of freestyle:D i love my banana;p
On the Lib tech website it's rated as a 5 out of 10 for anything 154 and under. 156 and up is rated as a 6 out of ten. I own last years model and it's a 156 wide. Feels pretty stiff but the rocker makes up for that. And it has some MEAN POP! Funnest board I've owned by far!
When you look at the reviews and the flex tests on youtube, you can see that it's stiff at the ends and soft in the middle. So maybe it's like 6.5 at the tip, 5.5 in the middle, back to 6.5 at the tail. Actually it's perfect twin so there's no real tip and tail. This is for the 156 and larger. So it will carve decent when edged, but not as good as a directional like TRS (I would guess that's like 5.5/6/6.5 or something). But the SB will still be easy to butter and press. But it will be harder to do deep presses like some other park boards.
I am 6ft and 195lbs looking at the SB. I ride mainly park my options are only a 156 or 153w what do you suggest having an 11 boot? Do you think i will have any drag on the 156 or should i go with the 153W to play it safe?
I've had my skate banana for a year now, and i wouldn't trade it for any other board. It presses, spins, and you can ride it anywhere! no need to switch boards when you get to that handrail in Downtown Detroit. Get it, ride it, love it.
I got this board for the first of the season and ended up sending it back because I couldn't land half the jumps I did because of the rocker washout. I sent it back to dogfunk and got a K2 WWW instead. I've been very very happy with the WWW and haven't gotten any rocker washout. K2 got it right when they put zero camber in between the feet and then slight rocker outside the bindings. If you want a board that slips around all over the mountain then I guess this board is for you. Just not my taste.

Two questions: 1) I'm all park 5'10'' 160 lbs with size 11 boot. Do you think 153 wide will be fine? 2) How does this compare to the Forum Youngblood Chillydog? Thanks
This is an amazing buy. It is quick on its edges and and super soft. After 8 years of riding I have never been in love with a board until i got this one. The magna-traction will claw its way threw the ice (great for Midwest "hard packed") while the Banana Tech camber allows for easy as hell butter but the flex sure doesn't hurt at all either. This board had so much pop. It makes rails easy and takes jumps smooth. I love the new top-sheet and it looks even sicker in person.
My only complaint is that this is the first board that I've had heel/toe drag with but i do have size 11 feet and didn't go for the wide board and went a little shorter for the park.
I cant say enough good about this board but Lib Tech, you did it again. BUY THIS BOARD!!!
hi i brought a 156 board and i am 6.2 tall and have size 13 feet i have union force 2011 bindings on my board and i have about 1inch of over hang on the front and the back of my board i have my binding on 21 at the front and 18 at the back i ask the guy at the store when i brought the board but he rekons a normal size board would work and i would have no toe drag. should i change the board for a wide or will a normal be fine?? thanks
If you can ride it without your toes catching then your fine. If your toes do catch your much better off the get a wide. I have had a board where my toes were catching 3 or 4 times a run. That just makes riding no fun.
haha you are the same height and foot size as me. I went with the 156 wide and i also have the 2011 union forces on my board. Its all up to you on the toe drag. If its a major problem then you might wanna go with the wide, i love mine and i have no toe drag with size 13 feet.
Especially for this price, i strongly recommend this shred machine to any level out there! It has just the perfect flex to accommodate for those jibbers and has a pop to kick ass on jumps. Overall fantastic board!
156 would actually be perfect for you especially for park riding. When you take it backcountry it will ride longer because of the rocker but nice and short for the park.
Just got it a couple days ago and got to ride it this weekend. 156 wide with union force bindings. This board feels great. I got it wide, so i believe that reduces the flex a bit, however it is still very flexy. You can feel the difference of Magne-Traction when it grips harder surfaces. Overall great board that does it all.
This stick is killer. I've been demoing this board for the past few days and have a chance to ride it in almost every condition. Digs in on hard pack and floats through the powder. I haven't found one spot where this board doesn't feel great.
Needless to say, I have a 154 on order and I couldn't be more stoked.
i'm thinking about getting this board but i'm not sure what size would be the best for me. I'm 5'7'', 155 lbs. I´m not a fan of rails and boxes, but i do like hitting jumps and freestyling down the groomers and powder.
deff goo with 152. I am 5'7 160 lbs and rode the 149 all year. Pretty good all around but im goin up to the 152 because the 149 was just a LITTLE too small. If u wanna hit bc booters i might even go with a 153 t rice pro c2 btx. The banana will do the job for anything in bounds, cliffs up to 25 feet. Unless your a bc charger all day everyday then this should be fine for now.
Control is the name of the game for this board (skate banana 156). I'm a purely intermediate rider....not great by any means, but decent and learning. This board has a lot more potential than I do. The board flexes easily but it's stiff enough that you can ride it all around the mountain. I'm on the east coast so I've ridden through plenty of ice and hard-packed and this board handles it with ease. The banana shape makes riding a whole new experience compared to my previous cambered board. I think this is a great board for anyone who is just learning how to pop a 180 or someone who spends all day killing the park.
Plus, it looks sick too! I went with the black/grey top sheet and white union force bindings and love this combo.
I'm thinking about picking up one of these board but i'm not too sure about the size of the board i need to get. I'm abut 5'6 and 115 lbs . with my height and weight is 151cm/narrow board going to be too big? or is there any other boards with Banana Tech and Magne-Traction features? Thanks
i got last years skate bannana and it is by far the best board iv ever ridden. it floats through the pow better than wider boards iv ridden and it is still really good on rails. the magne traction edges have great catch on the snow so when its a icy day the board still has great control. this board is also amazing in the park on jumps. with this board i have no comlaints. it is fun every where i go.
Yeah should be just fine. I recommend going with a lower profile boot though. Salomon has some as well as Burton doing their "footprint reduction technology" so you can size down a full size.
I ride this board on powder days because of the Reverse camber and it works great! I've also taken it into the park a few times and have been happy with it! I see this board all over the mountain and everyone who I've talked to who rides this board loves it!
I'm 5'11. 190lbs size 11.5 boot and im really interested in getting either this board or the Forum Destroyer Chillydog. I live in the east coast so i mainly ride around in hard pack or groomed, don't see much powder here. I would say i spend about 70% of my time riding around the mountain looking for jumps and fooling around and only about 30% in the park. Ive only been snowboarding for 2 seasons and im really looking forward to progressing further with my tricks. Which board would you recommend for me? And if i were to get the skate banana, would i be able to get away with a 156W or should i stick to the 159W?
If you can ride switch or are planning to, get the banana. If you only go one way, get the TRS (that's like an upgraded banana). They both have magnetraction and are good for the ice coast.
1. If your feet have stopped growing a regular should be fine considering this board runs wide already and 2 I would go 59 for more freeride and 56 for more park.
This board makes turning effortless and has the most catch-free feeling of all reverse camber designs from all brands. Ive tried them all! This is the best! the only thing that can come close is the forum youngblood chillydog. The flat between your feet thing that capita and rome do is lame, makes it harder to turn and engage spins onto rails. This board is a little more expensive but worth it! I personaly am sick of the graphics they put on the nana every season though. I think they should change the graphics completely and make it so you can choose what color you want! Us faithfull skate banana riders that buy a new one every season should be able to get something different without wondering if we're gonna get a pink one. Sorry just not my color! But im gonna keep buying them anyway! because im a slave to libtech until someone else makes a better board!!!
My son got one first. I rode it 200 feet and knew right away it was way better than anything I'd ever ridden. It grips & turns great in all conditions. Everyone you talk to that has one will tell you it's a confidence-booster. I'll never ride another board that doesn't have magne-traction.
Buy this board or a Gnu version. You'll be glad you did.
I love my banana so much. I know there are a ton of reviews that say it is slow or it has no pop but I honestly have noticed none of this I have straight lined things with ease. It is a little hard to get used to at first and I will be honest I didn't really like it the first time out on it but it just gets better and better.

Narrow means that the waist width across the snowboard will be a little smaller then the regular. You probably want a size shoe 8 or smaller to get the narrow option.
I was a little worried about paying full price for this board. I usually wait till the end of the season to buy my snowboard equipment when there are big discounts, but this board always sold out. Well, I bought the Black/Gray Skate Banana in January '11 and went to Brighton for a long weekend. Didn't get any fresh snow so it was packed and icy in places and this board rocked! Immediately it felt awesome of the first lift. The best way I can describe it, is it gives you confidence and immediately helps your snowboarding improve. It held great on the icy parts and turns effortlessly. I recommend this board for any rider and for the whole mountain. I can't wait to ride it in powder.
hey william if ur lookin to hit rails, boxes, etc. id look into the 152 but if ur more of a all-mountain type rider look into the 154. hope i helped mann.
I'm in my 30's and just learned to ride. I decided to give the banana a try after things didn't work out for me with this year's T Rice. The T. Rice was a bit to stiff and aggressive for me; after switching to the banana it made a world of a difference! I've only been riding a dozen times or so and this board has already allowed me to land switch off of small natural features. This is truly incredible for me because just a little while ago I could barely land a jump! Progression is what it's all about and this will definitely be the board to take me to the next level. If your contemplating on what to buy look no further than the Lib Tech Skate Banana!
Yeah, I noticed somethng like that too. I rode a Dark Series. And although I have to admit that the DS is more stable at higher speeds and lands spins better, if I make a mistake on the DS, I usually get slammed. The Skate Banana is more forgiving and rides switch exactly the same as forward. And would over spin instead of putting my butt and face to the ground. Much more forgiving. Even if I have to skid out a landing when I'm a little off, it's better than clipping an edge having a sore butt.
Also, compared to all other boards I've riden, except my friend's TRS BTX, the banana turns on a dime. You just lean a little bit and it hooks you straight into the carve without delay. The first time I rode a TRS before I ever rode a BTX, I almost got thrown off it because the BTX turns so fast!
i'd be surprised to see a c2 skate banana. I would like it as well but this is their bread in butter, the board that changed snowboarding. I wouldn't expect them to change it. The TRS is a sick park board with c2 if thats what you're looking for
I've been riding a banana for a year now, and I have to say I am in love with his board. I'll never own a regular camber board again. Don't be fooled, the Skate Banana will shred the entire mountain, it's not simply a park board. Riding powder with this board is a blast, and Magne-Traction is simply amazing. I recently rode my friends Youngblood Chilidog, and immediately noticed how washy it was while carving hard, whereas you get nothing but solid edge-hold in any condition with MTX. Can't say enough about this shred stick. Yeah, it's a little pricey, but it's so worth it. Lib-Tech/Mervin is where it's at, 'nuff said.
Im 5'8', 190 lbs, size 11 boots and was looking to ride the a 154...is this too small for me or of should I be fine..i heard you can ride smaller ones on the banana. According to forsty rider this board is just the right width...can anyone help?
That would be a nice sized board for you. You could even go to the 156 for more all mountain stuff, but the 154 would be fine for park and cruising around the hill. I'm your weight and my two boards are a capita stairmaster 152 and a capita scaremaster 156. Depending on the conditions I swap back and forth and both sizes have been good to me.
This board is sweet. You can hardly describe it. Presses are efortless yet it is still stable at hing speeds. I use it for everything. I rock it with Burton Cartel bindings and i can feel the board under my feet. Buy it and you wont regret it. GO GET IT!
What size should i get?? I'm 5'11" and weigh 150 lbs with a size 13 boot. I've been snowboarding and skating over ten years now (surfing 4 yrs) so balance is not a problem. I ride park about 80% of the time. I've heard they ride large for their size so that's why i'm hoping to get an owner's opinion. thanks
I don't own this board but know and ride with a number of people who do. With a boot that big you need a board with a waist of 260mm or larger to make sure you're not catching your toes when you turn or land. That would lead to either a 153 wide or 156 wide, the 159 wide is too long for your weight considering how often you ride the park. Some people, like me, lean towards a shorter board, and others like a longer board. If you specialize in jibs get the 153, if you consistently hit jumps over 30 or 40ft or so you might want the added stability of the 156. Unless you hit huge jumps I'd be inclined to put you on the 153 wide, with banana you have a longer effective edge and with magnetraction you have plenty of edge to grip the snow on a landing. That is what I would do, but it all comes down to personal riding style and preferences. Good luck picking a size.
im 6"0-1.. around 160 lbs. this board is sick, nice response, good pop, great for park. but i used this in powder and wasnt so fun. and this board lasts awhile. also i ride a 152.
hey I'm about 5"11 165 lbs. and Ive got a size 12 boot made by 32. and I'm planing on getting this board with a pair of L/XL ride revolt bindings. what size skate banana would be best for me?
I'm about 5'10"-10 1/2" and 160 lbs. Wondering what size Banana board would suit me best??? I've heard these are some of the best boards out there to ride. I'm new to snowboarding (once) but hooked!!! Most riding is just on your basic starter hills in MN. I've come across a 2006 Banana board 156 cm with bindings for sale for $300. Let me know your Banana thoughts.
I just took this board out for the first time today. Icy wet conditions. It had absolutely no problem shredding through ice with that magne-traction thing. wicked flex, not too soft but not too stiff. the pop on the board is pretty badass. i had to bail on my first jump cuz i was so high (in more then one way). it was also my first time on a reverse camber board and i will never go back to a regular camber. I highly recommend this board to people of all skill levels.
hey im your exact height and weight and i have ridden both a 156 banana and a 159 banana. they both feel about the same. a matter of 3 cm may seem alot but it really it isnt. depends on what type of rider you are. im a mainly glade and park rider and the 159 feels very good under my feet. and its not like you have to worry about catching edges with a bigger board because it is banana. enjoy they are some of the ebst boards out there.
well im 6'3'' about 210lbs size 12 boot... and i ride a 156w banana. i usually ride a 159 burton bullet standerd camber. i would say for you to get a 152 or if your worried about dragging toe then the 153w... i have a size 12 boot and i have never had prblems dragging toe unless the board is under 25.0cm or so. and since the 152 is 25.2cm you should be fine
this is an awesome all mountain killer and i have the 125 and if you have messed with a serrated knife well that is what the skate banana is like it has serrated edges like if you hit a chunk of ice it turns it into powder it is also great for the park i would recommend this to everyone
Im 5'11 160lbs. Size 12 feet. Should I get the 156wide or 159 wide. I ride park 70% of the time. Its either this, park pickle or never summer revolver.. Thanks!
Got this board last season and it's still ripping it up. Here on the East Coast, bulletproof hard-pack is a normal day. The edges on this board can let you ride everywhere. Feels like they are super sharp when you need em to be and not so sharp and grabby when you don't. Has to be the best of both worlds. The rocker camber and twin shape is perfect and let's you ride where you want in any conditions you want. Has to be one of he best boards I've ridden. Used to be a guy that rode both Rome and Burton but after riding his deck for a season now I hate to say both my Rome and Burton are collecting dust. If you want a good flexing twin board that can ride anything from pow to icy days the Skate Banana is the way to go. I only worry about the durability of it because all I do is ride this one deck and it's starting to take a beating between the park and all day all mountain riding. I set it up with a pair of Union Forces and have to say the setup is dead on. Union and Lib-Tech make a great combo thus far.
Hi! I'm about 215lbs and 5'11. I wear boot size 11. I really like what this board offers, and am wondering if I'm too big for this board, or would a 159w work? and if not, is there a better board libtech has for my size?! Thanks!!
dude im 6'3'' 210-215lbs and i ride a 156w... on bananas you should downsize a bit... i dont have any problems out of mine... i rode it for 11hrs yesterday not one grab or catch on any rails....i was a lil scared it would be too soft when i fierst got it but its perfect... just stiff enough to have plenty of pop but soft enough that you can press the S*** outta it!... THE BANANA IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!i would say 156 or 156w!
Hi! Im 5'10, 165 pounds and a size 10.5 boots. What size would be optimal for me, im in the park around 50% of the time! I skate and surf so balanace is no problem. Thanks!!
Those are about my specs except 10 pounds lighter. You would want a normal width board with your boot size. You would probably want either a 152 or a 154 since your in the park. I demoed (and am getting) a 154 and it felt great for everything from powder to park.
you would probably be looking for a normal width board because with only a size 10 boots, you might have trouble carving since the boots wouldnt reach all the way across a wide board. But I would not go any shorter than 151cm since you are about 6'1", and too small of a board will cause you to lose stability
All i have heard about this board is that is a-mother fuckin-mazing but when i finally got to ride it at the end of last season it was not as great as i had heard... don't get me wrong it was ok but i didn't think it was all that poppy and it was ok for jibbing but not quit what i expected from the board that started the hole reverse camber sensation... i would much rather ride a stepchild jib stick or a forum youngblood chilidog before i bought this board again
hope someone can answer? cant decide between this and 2011 horroscope fk. would like to know which is better backcountry. about equal in park. horr is flat camber
this. So much more tech in this one. Magna and rocker. hands down. This will float so much more in the back country. and magna will kill it for the slashes.

the banana has reverse camber that helps you float in the pow, and magne traction that helps you take tight turns in the tree trails like none other. Best board all around.
This is one of the funnest boards on the market in my opinion. With that said, it doesn't do everything well though. This board is epic in the powder and super fun to butter around the park in. However its not what I'd want to be on if you're riding icy steep conditions. Even though you have BTX, nothing holds an edge like a cambered board.
Sizing: I'm 6' and 185 lbs, Size 11 boot (low profile with footprint of a 10) and I recommend a 156 wide. You can get away with a nonwide but with the shorter effective edge you will get washout on aggresive turns that will be necessary sometimes.
i've always disagreed with this being marketed as an all mountain/all terrain board. I do however think that magnatraction holds and edge better than a traditional sidecut weather it be on a cambered or rockered board. Give C2 a try, it really does give you the best of both worlds
dude this is the board for you. i used to ride a all mountain board and could get around the park a little bit... but once i took the banna out it gave me so much confidence... i hit rails i would have never even tried the first day out on it... and after a couple days getting used to it i started stoping 30fters!!! this board will shred the mtn plus kill in the park!! best $490 i have ever spent!
Also forgot to mention - I live in Canada and am worried about the top sheet delaminating after reading about problems with Lib Techs. Is this true? What's the deal with it?
I am 172cm, weight 60kg and 8 size of boots. What size of board do you recommend? I have been riding 3years. Now i decide to swich all gears of snowboarding. i looked at the union bindings. they are very good. but, i need to now what size is like M? Can you set binding on the snowboard that i am going to buy form you?
Usually the rule of thumb is buy a board that is between your nose and the middle of your neck when you stand it up in from of you. Freestyle riding should have a board closer to your neck and all-mountain riding is closer to your nose. I say measure from your feet to your lower lip and pick a board size close to that and to be safe go for the longer board. As for bindings you need a medium, on average mediums are about size 6-9. For Unions, you need a medium/large. And Unions will work on any board except Burton boards with EST or 3-Hole mounting without the proper conversion disks. In this case with the Lib-Tech board, you're in the clear!
Hello, I am 5 9', weight 150 and 11.5 size of boots (thirty two). What board do you recommend? 3 years snowboarding, looking for something to improve my park skills, yet be able to have fun all over the mountain.
Thanks a lot for the awnser. It really helped. I think I am getting a skate banana. I am not sure about getting it wide or not. I doubt between the 153 wide and the 154 normal...
Well you could always try out a v rocker/banana/reverse camber... whatever you want to call it. They are super fun to ride and can definitely help you progress, especially in the park. I prefer camber, but rode a rocker board last year and it was fun in the park, great in powder, and pretty easy to turn. You could also ride a rockered board for many years to come. Beginners can learn on them and experts can have fun sliding around on them, thats aways a great thing. I would personally recommend something like a Burton Joystick, Capita Horrorscope FK, Capita UltraFear FK, and the one and only Lib Tech Skate Banana. These are all boards I have ridden or talked to people who have ridden. There are many other boards, but these are the ones I'm comfortable recommending. For camber check out a Capita Stairmaster it is soft enough to turn, but not soft to the point that you can't turn on the mountain with it; I've got one and love it. Wow, long answer! Just one more thing, size. I also wear an 11.5. You will want a board with a waist width above 252mm or so. I ride anything 253mm to 260mm (usually mid 250s). Length could go anywhere from 150-155 for park, 154-158 for all mountain, and 158-164 for freeriding. For something that will be all around good in the park and on the mountain I'd go for a 154-156. Good luck and have fun.
I am 5'10 about 185-190, should i get the 156 or the 159? i want a board that i can learn park on and still ride the mountain a little. Mostly park and powder though because i have a different board i can use for the rest of the mountain. Im only a size 10 boot so i dont think i need wide.
Serious bro,, don't get a wide,, i wear a size 11 boot in Vans and I have never stepped on a wide board before.. my buddy that rocks a size 12 just switched to a wide stance board after YEARS of ridin',, hope this helps..//
1st you DO NOT need a wide!!!!! 2nd id go 156 if you are really going to get in to park and a 159 if you are going to do more powder/ all mountain 3rd its easier to take a longer board in to the park and work a little harder to learn to jib then it is to take a short board in to powder >>>>IN SHORT<<<<<< id go 159 unless you are going to spend way more of your time in the park then out of it..... hoped that helped
At 160lbs, the 154 would be the better option, it will still be super fun and playful. I would even consider the 156 for all over the mountain versatility. Avoid the 152 with your size, it might be a little squirrely...
I'm 6'3", 250 lbs 30 yrs old, been boarding for 5 years and just started jumping at the end of last season. I usually ride a 163 wide all mountain board b/c of my weight and size 13 shoes. I want a board that will let me to improve my jumping and still be great for carving up the mountain. Everyone I've talked to about the banana board loves it, but they are all smaller people, anyone know how these boards work for someone my size?
Trust me I'm a nerd about this shit haha look into it. Lib Tech's Skunk ape, the one with the skeleton graphic, you can't go wrong. I'd get like the 165W/169W. Not sure what size board you ride now but with the banana rocker you can size down, take 2-3cm off what you'd normally ride.
Get the skunk ape man. It's meant for bigger guys who need a freestyle/freeride machine. It's got the C2 also which will hold better at high speeds than the traditional banana. Check it out man. You're too big for the skate banana, but they make other boards with all the sick technology you want that will be better for you.
Hello, I'm about 1.89 cm's tall, and 90-95 kgs, in winter about 92,what size should i chose? I was thinking about 159W, because i also wear 46 eu( i think its 13 US)
Hay im Really interested in buying this board im about 62KG and 167cm tall , What would be a good size for me to buy ? Mostely for trail riding and maybe a little bit of park when i get better.
Hi, I'm looking to buy my first board, I'm 6ft, 190lb, size 12 boot. I ride mountain atm, but will look to get into the park a bit. I'm not sure which size i should get, a 156W or 159W...any suggestions? Will the 156W handle my weight?
The 159 would be a better fit. The 156w could handle your weight, but you'd fit into the sweet spot for the weight range on the 159w, while topping out on the 156w's weight range.
Write your question here...I am i need of new boots for this coming season. I will probably be buying size 8 or 8.5 will the 148 narrow banana be to skinny for my feet? I am around 5'4'' and 115 pounds.
