Size 34 will def be too big. Especially with board shorts, you need to buy your correct size because 1) you cant wear a belt and 2) if you jump in the water with 34s on, you'll be coming out of the water buck nekkid.

All Matix boardshorts have a "no fly." There is a small velcro tab on the waistband to help hold it closed, then there is just a flap under the fly. No extra velcro or zipper to mess things up down there. They are super comfy.
