Description

Modern technology and a look like nothing else on Earth.

More than the return of an often-copied classic, The Nitro Pyro Snowboard brings back the famous asymmetrical twin shape and backs it up with modern technology. Much more than a resurrection, the new Nitro Pyro is a rebirth. The biggest change for the new Pyro is its flat camber profile. A perfect blend of the traditional camber edge control and the loose feel of rocker, flat camber gives the Pyro a feel that's both playful and controlled.

The Pyro begins with Nitro's PowerCore II core. The PowerCore II is made with lightweight poplar and full-length beech wood stringers for ridiculous pop. The Whiplash Profile is thin between the bindings and thicker toward the tip and tail for easy turn initiation with no sacrifice in response. The asymmetrical twin shape and radial sidecut make carving predictable and controlled whether you're riding regular or switch. The Pyro also uses Nitro's Park flex, which is forgiving yet responsive for all aspects of terrain park domination. Carving duties are handled by Nitro's Railkiller edges, which have 200% more impact strength than standard edges. For the finishing touch, the Pyro gets the Speed Formula HD Base.  The new Formula HD base compound combines high abrasion-resistance, higher wax absorption, and ridiculous on-snow speeds with ultra-clear transparency to show off your base graphics.

This board is the biznaz

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This board is insane. I got to ride the Pyro quite a bit last season. The first run I took on it I fell in love. It turns on a dime, I know this because the second run I did a toe side turn and it threw me to the ground saying "I turn real fast so you better be ready." After that moment I was ready. The asymmetrical shape makes heelside turns super buttery. The flat camber makes it playful in the park and ride well straight out the wrapper. My favorite part of this board is the shape. I am a sucker for non traditional shapes. This one is so fun to ride. Also, the power pods under the feet make and edge hold on to ice like a 18 year old girl who is way too attached. My personal favorite snowboard of all time.

A blast from the past!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A blast from the past! Nitro was the first company to introduce an asymmetrical edge on a snowboard in the early 90's and for 2013 they are bringing it back complete with throwback graphics and they even kept the name. The Pyro is the quiver of one you have been looking for. Featuring zero camber, the Pyro is easy to press but also is more responsive than the typical reverse camber board. The asym edge coupled with Power Pods allow this board to turn on a dime. The retro shape and graphic is sure to catch the attention of everyone in the lift line. Rail Killer Edges allow you to jib anything and everything in your way without fear of cracking an edge. The sintered base rounds out this amazing shred stick, ensuring you will always have enough speed to stay ahead of the pack. If you are looking for a playful yet responsive board to do it all, look no further. The Pyro is what dreams are made of.

Snowboarding just got better

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you are a moderate snowboarder and you really like the feeling of good solid carves, but you dont want a super stiff board - the 2014 Nitro Pyro is perfect for you. With its Aysm Shape, you can lay down heal side turns as low and hard as you can a toe side turn, but the Zero Camber and Whiplash Core profile allow you to press and jib all over the mountain with ease. So get ready to press, jump and jib your way through the snowboard park, without sacrificing the performance and control you need for carving your way down the rest of the mountain like a champ! "It is so fun! I rode this board maybe 20 - 30 times last year on all sorts of terrain and I never had a bad day - so stoked the Nitro Pyro is back!"
