Who makes Nixon watches?
Who makes Nixon watches?
Nixon is a company based out of Encinitas, California.
Great watch, thank you aging all of you that put in the effort and hard work. Keep moving forward in everything you do.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I really like the watch and the tide features, but, I wore it once in Vegas, it was 115. I hung out at the pool and the watch band turned a black color from light blue. It looks like it was burnt. Nixon said I could buy a new replacement band. 70 dollars for a watch you can get for 100. For a watch designed to go surfing I feel has a pretty shitty band material quality.
Great Style and Functionality
I wore this watch surfing everyday for a month straight and have had no issues with it. The tide function is very useful for surfing and you will have all the locals in the lineup asking you for the time. The chrono/wave function is also super useful as you can track how long you have been waiting for a wave and how many you have caught in a session.
This product is a terrible purchase if you actually intend to surf in it. After 7 months of owning my first Nixon Lodown, it broke off while surfing in rather small waves. I thought it was just a defect so I foolishly purchased another one. After 8 months with my new Nixon Lodown watch, it broke in half while sleeping, and I'm not an aggressive sleeper at all. So, don't buy this watch for yourself if you think you will look cool while surfing because it will break off and you will have no watch at all, and don't do a disservice to your friends by gifting this cheaply made, over-priced watch to them.
Older version... 2 stars!
I own that bright ass yellow one. It's not so bright anymore. The band and the face housing have worn differently too so it just kinda looks like sh!t now.
I dont really like the way Nixon charges you before they even know if they need to fix anything, so I basically just wear a watch until I have to throw it away, which is coming up soon for this little guy.
Havent taken it into the Ocean much, so it's held up pretty well in dry air. I mostly just check the tides because the La Jolla tide pools are awesome, but you have to go at low tide. I just check it on my shelf, and that's about the extent of my watch's life now since it's so ugly.
I cant say how the new features are holding up, or if they're worth that $124 price tag, but I think the womens version is BUNK! All the shit thats on the screen, how could you even see it if it's smaller?
It's pretty cool for checking tides... or you could use google!
2 of 5 stars for the old one with the messed up sealant and the discolored funky band.
I never really used the tide function, but loved that this is a lightweight simple watch with basic necessities. The watch didn't last very long electronically, went through 2 in two years, but Nixon's customer service in unreal. I received anew watch any time I sent it in with a non working watch.
It is a very good watch.
I have had and worn this watch for 4 years now. Changed the battery twice and showered with it on every day. Not a single problem yet, except for the wicked suntan line.

pretty sick watch only thing is the tide is wrong even though i set it to the wright beach im just wondering if any one could help me with that
Thats weird. Is your date set correct? The tide cycles are based on a calender which refers to the date you have set on your watch.
Perhaps you should set it to the right beach.
Sweetratail I thought the saaaaaaame thing hahahaha.
Actually I ran into the same issue in Bali. Some (not all) of the tide data in the watch is wrong.
So far so good!
Just got my lodown today, and for my first watch it is a little complicated with all of the options and everything, but I'll eventually figure it out. I got the teal/black watch, and it is a little darker than the picture, definitely not as bright. Other than that, the watch is pretty sick, and looks good! The teal may not go with everything, but it does match with most of the clothing in my closet. I also have a pretty small wrist, and the Lodown really doesn't look huge, which was another thing that I was worried about when buying my first watch. I would definitely recommend this watch to a friend. By the way, I would not recommend taking this watch into the ocean, swimming, etc., its not waterproof (says it in the direction booklet).

Why did nixon raise there price? I heard a rumor that Nixon is making a new lowdown model is that true?

anyway to make the light stay on or come on automatically for the Nixon Lodown?
what is the difference between the Lodown and the Lodown TI ?
Nixon Lodown (silver/black)
read a few bad reviews about the lodown leaking but I chatted with a rep online for backcountry before I purchased the watch and he said the quarantee everything for life plus they carry the latest product. According to a review I read Nixon addressed the leaking issue and put out a newer lodown with better material. I got lucky and found this watch for $65 on backcountry's site and now they are up to $100 and even more in the surf shops. So far so good with the watch it was pretty simple to set the time, tide, beach etc. It is very hard to see the time in a not so well lit room but you can hit the light button for a quick peek (I wish it would come on automatically when you raise your arm like the G shock does because that is a very nice feature). I've been trying to test the tides and compare them with what's on magic seaweed and from what I can tell they are pretty close. The overall feel of the watch is pretty comfortable and it is not that big so not pressing on my hand a lot like some watches do. I would recommend this to a friend especially for under $75. Now it's time to catch the Nixon stainless steel watch on sale because I really would like to sport that one for work.

I bought a lodown during the summer and i have not used it in a couple of weeks and it wont let me change anything then the screen goes blank. Is there anything I can do?
Sounds like the battery might not have enough juice to power those basic functions. You can either try having the battery changed at your local jeweler, or if you bought it from Dogfunk, hit up one of our customer service reps by calling in, or using the "chat now" option above to set up a return.
It's in sleep mode. Hold down the light button (top left) until it beeps and comes out of the blank screen.
