Great lens, but be very gentle with it

Excellent lens, very easy to change lenses out for changing conditions. Persimmon is perfect for your basic snow day with low light, but not completely overcast. As a reviewer mentions below, though, be very careful wiping away fog, water, debris....for some reason, the coating is very fragile and even if you're using a soft cloth (I was using a chamois from a different pair of goggles) you can very easily ruin the lens and get a big smudge across it. Only use the provided drawstring bag, and even then just dab it, don't wipe it.

I got a spec of something on the inside of my lens, and tried to wipe it off. A small smudge turned into a bigger smudge until the whole thing was just completely opaque. Great goggle otherwise, so 4 stars

I got the hi-intensity yellow for night/low-light days. I alternate with the fire mirror that came originally with them.
Easy to switch. great lens.

Great lens, easy to swap out and great for cloudy days. Lights up the snow and allows you to easily distinguish changes in the snow.

That lens does best in flat to low light by increasing contrast and depth perception.

Good lens for all but sunny days. The yellow shows good definition in the snow in less than fair conditions. My local area is Valdez and as some people know the weather is often variable and thus I needed a solid flat/low light lens. I have been very satisfied with the lens so far with the conditions I have been riding in.
VR50 Pink Iridium
The lens is good for sunny days. If you are looking for a flat or low light get YELLOW. I have been able to use the Pink lens a few times and have been happy with it. Once the conditions get worse tho its time for the YELLOW to come out.

Oakley replacement lenses generally do not come with the microfiber bag. You can separately though.

An iridium lens would be better for bright days. The dark grey isn't bad, but the iridium definitely help cut the glare

Im going to have a H.I. Yellow lens and a black iridium lens. What medium tint lens could fill that gap?

While it's only a little bit lighter than Oakley's darkest lenses, I like the Fire Iridium lenses for cloudier days and failing daylight.

would the fire iridium and the vr50 pink iridium be a good combination for all light types except night riding, if not what would u recommend

Pink iridium might be too dark if you're skiing storms, H.I. Yellow is a good low light lens that still has some "shiny" though its not reflective like the iridiums. If your not picky about how much light your eyes are gettin go with your choices by all means. I have a Persimmon lens for low light and plan on buying a Fire Ir. for bright light. I would use an H.I. lens for low light if i could but two $75 lenses is too expensive.

I have H.I Yellow, vr50 Pink Iridium, and H.I. Persimmon and have been using only the pink and yellow. Granted my day light is shorter cause im in Alaska but the pink have a nice reflective to it that has been perfect for sunny days and the yellow is simply an essential to any person who is serious about their winter sports.

I have used this, Persimmon, lens for many years in my old a frame and I love it. It gives you great visibility even in flat light. If you buy goggles with mirror lens this is an absolute need as a complement.

Fire Iridium
I was curious to know if the fire iridium replacement lens is exactly the same as the stock ones in the goggs. Just looking at these pics, it doesn't look like it to me. And I can't get the frames I want with the fire iridium lens, so that's why i'm asking.

I've seen both... they look the same. I have an asian fit frame that came w/ persimmon + a replacement fire iridium lens. The two lenses handles most conditions.

Which lens should I get for days with flat light?

High intensity yellow or persimmon are the best for flat to low light.
This is what the oakley site says:
- Persimmon: Sport performance lens for flat to low light. Filters blue light to boost contrast and enhance depth perception in overcast or shaded conditions.
- High Intensity Yellow: Flat to very low light. Features an Iridium® coating for tuned contrast and reduced glare, perfect for extremely flat light or foggy conditions.
Great Lens for a Great Goggle

This is a great lens. The XYZ optics make it the most optically correct lens of any lens made. Why put an astigmatic lens in front of your eye when people pay thousands of dollars to correct their astigmatisms. This lens is optically correct so you don't have to worry about that! It is also as impact resistant as a pair of safety goggles, so that tree branches don't shatter your lenses and kill your eyes. Get these lenses for you awesome splice goggles!
