Oakley Splice Goggle

Feeling pressured? Could be your goggles. The Oakley Splice combines patented, distortion-free XYZ Optics with a pressure-eliminating frame design to help you breathe, see, and perform better than ever. Until now, most goggles have relied on the classic 'raccoon-eyes' frame shape that accommodates a range of face and nose shapes, but that can create unwanted pressure on the nose bridge, restricting breathing and causing discomfort. To eliminate this, Oakley's team of learning computers designed a frame that arches completely over the nose, using your cheekbones for support and filling the gap with super-soft triple-density face foam. The result, in short, is a super-comfortable goggle that maintains all the amazing range of vision and clarity you expect from Oakley. But don't believe the hype; try them and find out for yourself.

  • Flexible O-Matter frame remains pliable in any temperature
  • F3 Anti-fog coating eliminates the steam-room cloud
  • Outrigger strap mounts distribute strap pressure evenly to the face with or without a helmet
  • New for 2010/11: integrated attachment points for Oakley Splice Bandito removable face mask

Bottom Line: Living proof that goggles can evolve.

Hey anthony savasta,

Thanks for asking. With the Oakley Splice Goggle, the Persimmon lens would be decent in low light riding, but may not do as well for night riding if the lighting is minimal. But, in the case of what comes with the goggle, it would be your best go for both as the Hi-Yellow would be another option for better night riding but would let in too much in any sort of light other than super low.

Diggin' the Splices

By:
October 25, 2012

Ive been buying Oakley goggles almost every season because their style, quality and comfort. Best thing I like about these Oakley Splices is the new nose design - its a little wider around the nose so it doesn't pinch you nose making you sound like you have a cold or something. Definitely recommend these goggles to who ever is viewing these reviews!

Best goggle so far

By:
January 18, 2011

I have had smith i/o, oakley a-frames, wisdoms, and crowbars, along with spy orbits, dragon rouges, dragon maces, and electric eg2s.. The oakley splices blow all of them out of the water. They are super comfy and provide great vision. I also love how customizable they are. You can swap out riggers and straps to switch things up. i recommend these to every one of my friends when they look for googles. they are absolutely amazing.

If you don't want them to pinch then you have to wear them a little higher. i sag mine low so they pinch no matter what lol. They might loosen up a bit but not too much. Wasn't too great of an answer but I hope it helps a little

The HI Yellow are subtly reflective, a little less than Pink Iridium lenses. These are very low tint lenses. You will see the reflectivity when you use them in the right conditions (grey days and night riding under lights.)

By:
January 19, 2013

Killer or filler? (0) (0)

The HI Yellow is somewhat reflective depending on outside light. It's very much a low-light lens though, designed more for contrast acuity than the glare-reducing mirrored (Oakley's Iridium) coatings.

Just got my Splice goggles.
My 1st pair is a ZEAL SPX goggle which I love! They are fantastic in every way but a bit too dark for those special snowy or flat light days. I picked up a pair of Splice with the HI Yellow lens for those dark/flat days. Just surprised they seem narrow and cut off my breathing. Is this just a new-out-of-the-box issue? I think I remember my Zeals doing that at first but not now. Have not had new goggles in 2 years so I do not remember if these need a break in period. No, my face is not huge, just a normal dudes face and nose.

By:
October 22, 2012

Love my splice goggles. Have yet to experience any fogging. Also fit a wide variety of face sizes. Would really suggest doing your homework on lenses. Buy appropriate lenses for what you normally ride in and not just because its paired up with the design you like. Oakley does a great Job on their site showcasing the lenses and preferred riding environment. You could also ask the live help, they definitely provided some great insight for me.

Kinda disappointed

By:
April 2, 2012

I am a huge Oakley fan. I own 5 pairs of their sunglasses so I was pretty excited to get some snow goggles. I bought the Neon Orange with the Fire lens and it looks awesome, the optics though were disappointing. I found that the fire lens is too dark for anything except the very brightest of days and even though the lens is huge, with all the padding on the inside, the range of view was actually pretty small. I also have a deviated septum, so I was hoping that the increased nose area would help, but it didn't for my case. On top of that, there is a seem in the polycarbonate lens close to the left eye that can be noticed every now and then. I ended up buying some Smith Phenom goggles for low light situations and I found that they have a bigger range of view, the nose region is infinitely better for someone who has a big nose or nasal problems like me and overall just more comfortable. As much as it hurts for me to say it, I cannot recommend this Oakley product to any of my friends. I would say that you should get this if your whole reason for getting goggles is for style, cause that is really the only thing I can say was good about these.

February 22, 2011

I got a crowbar and i loved it. But this one is just better. Crowbar wraps my face really tight so that no wind can get into my eyes. The splice does the job just as good except it doesn't press my face so hard i got a goggle mark on my face after wearing it whole day. Crowbar is nice, Splice is just better.

Great Goggles!

By: Dogfunk.com Employee
June 22, 2011

I got a pair of these for free on the opening day at the Canyons Mountain Resort in Park City Utah in December 2010. They are nice goggles and fit well. There is no nose pressure which is super nice, but it seemed that the nose area is a little higher than other goggles so I could constantly see the nose padding while boarding. I usually wear Women's goggles because I have a small face so my problem might have been that these Splice goggles were to big for me so I had to wear them higher on my head. I gave them to my dad because they were free and he loves them! My brother also has a pair and he has no complaints with them.
