Description

Living proof that goggles can evolve.

Feeling pressured? Could be your goggles. The Oakley Splice combines patented, distortion-free XYZ Optics with a pressure-eliminating frame design to help you breathe, see, and perform better than ever. Until now, most goggles have relied on the classic 'raccoon-eyes' frame shape that accommodates a range of face and nose shapes, but that can create unwanted pressure on the nose bridge, restricting breathing and causing discomfort. To eliminate this, Oakley's team of learning computers designed a frame that arches completely over the nose, using your cheekbones for support and filling the gap with super-soft triple-density face foam. The result, in short, is a super-comfortable goggle that maintains all the amazing range of vision and clarity you expect from Oakley. But don't believe the hype; try them and find out for yourself.
  • Flexible O-Matter frame remains pliable in any temperature
  • F3 Anti-fog coating eliminates the steam-room cloud
  • Outrigger strap mounts distribute strap pressure evenly to the face with or without a helmet
  • New for 2010/11: integrated attachment points for Oakley Splice Bandito removable face mask

Use em' daily

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The splice has been my go-to goggle for a few seasons now. I have always loved Oakley's lenses and how well they work in each condition. I have a pair of Splices for flat light, with a Hi-Intensity yellow lens. And, a pair with a Fire lens for those blue bird days. The frame fits nicely and un-restrictive, and the foam sits against the face quite nicely.

I found that changing a lens out in these can be quite the project. Also, replacement lenses are so expensive, it may be less of a hassle to just by a whole new goggle.

Overall, I love how good the optics are, how they look, and how they fit.

wonderfull goggles. great peripheral view, never get foggy.
pretty low light with fire iridium, but really versatile, it would be better to have a couple of lenses.
i noticed that air flows into your face through some small holes next to the nose, o dont know if i really like that.
otherwise excellent goggles, would recomend anyone to buy them. plus sick colors available

can lenses be easily changed on these goggles

Hey Lu,

You can change the lenses on these. Its not terribly difficult but its not a quick switch that you can do on the lift. Definitely something youd need to take gloves off for.... If you want some goggles where you can change the lens on the fly id check out the Oakley airbrakes:
http://www.backcountry.com/oakley-airbrake-goggle

Same shape and feel as the splice but with a quick flip lock so you can change lenses super fast.

Hope this helps!

Hello, I currently have a pair of Fire Iridum/Splice for the sunny days and a High Intensity Yellow for flat light/foggy days.

I need a pair thats in the middle for cloudy days where the sun can occasionally come out. Basically good for both cloudy and occasional sun. Whats the recommended goggles for that?
Thanks!

Hey Jacob,
the VR50 lens is a good all-around lens that is great for flat light t medium light conditions. So it is a good middle-ground lens.

if you get the dark grey lenses can you see through it?

Responded on

Yes, you can see through them and they're pretty prime for sunny conditions. However for dark conditions, persimmon is good, as is HI yellow, and I really like pink iridium.

Purple People Eater

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I these Oakley Splice's in March of 2013 at Holiday Valley Resort in Lower New York. They were a buddies of mine because due to the amount of snow my fire lens was too dark for the 4 days we were there. Worked great and wore with a POC Bug Receptor Helmet. Wore my Neff beanie underneath. I would totally snag a pair of these!

Didn't work with helmet

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

If you consider your face to be closer to the medium size
(as I do) you may want to rethink your purchase. Returned these goggles because they pinched my nose with my helmet (Smith Vantage w Lip).

In the image that you provide, the lightning green almost looks more yellow that green, is that the case?

Responded on

I'd almost describe it as a DayGlo with a green tint to it. To add to the confusion it kind of looks more yellow or more green depending on the light you look at them in.

Love the splice

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Originally a crowbar cat myself, I am growing to love the new style and look of the Splice. I have noticed a lot more peripheral viewing with these, so that is a bonus. I also love how easy it is to switch out the lenses. Skiing in the Wasatch can sometimes get tricky. Driving up to the mountain it will be overcast then when you get to the bird it will be a bluebird day. Super simple to pop out the lens and change it accordingly. A+++++ for these goggles!

I love these goggles, have 2 pairs of them. EMERALD IRIDIUM is awesome for sunny days. Super comfortable too!

Good Bang for your Buck!

This is a good pair of goggles for the price. These have good peripheral vision and are durable. The Lens switching system is a bit of a pain, but it is fairly simple. If you are willing to spend a couple more dollars, than the Smith I/OX or the Oakley Airbrake are a much better buy as they come with a second lens. Both the Airbrake and I/OX have a much easier lens swapping system too.

hi im going to windells this summer and i might get the lens with dark grey and buy an extra persimmon lens for riding back home we usually get sunny days on spring and medium to low light in winter should i get these lenses? :)

Responded on

Those are good choices. I prefer fire iridium to dark grey, but either works fine for sunny conditions. For dark conditions, persimmon is good, as is HI yellow, and I really like pink iridium.
