Solid, Good Price

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This isn't the nicest probe you can buy, but it is a SOLID probe. The 200 cm length is about as short as you should go in my opinion, and this one has variations in color down the probe to help you gauge depth. The locking mechanism seems sturdy enough and is quick to engage and then disengage to fold it up.

Luckily I haven't ever really HAD to use it, but if I ever did, it would get the job done.

Great Little Probe

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this probe for an inbounds and slackcountry backpack probe. Great little guy that fits perfectly into my BCA Stash pack. Gonna grab another one to stash on my snowmobile.

Works good for me.

I do a lot of slackcountry/short to medium bc trips & I'm totally happy with this product. Ortovox makes excellent products across the board.

Great probe

I liked this probe for general touring. The 200 cm is too short for guiding or patrol work, but this probe is very economical and easy to use. I used it several times in burial drills with great results. The markings on the side are great for quantifying quick snow pits. I would recommend tying a knot in the end to make the extension smooth and quick.
