This jacket looks amazing and feels amazing.
Used it for a nice 4 day trip to Big Sky Mt.
Kept me warm and dry.
Long length is great. I'm 6'2" and this jacket long enough so I don't get powder up my back.
There's also a pocket on the left sleeve perfect for chap stick.
Planet Earth Tread Jacket - Men's has two...
Planet Earth Tread Jacket - Men's has two different descriptions regarding the hood. One says detatchable and the other non-detatchable.
Which is correct?
The hood is fixed
I ordered this right after Christmas with the free two day shipping in order to get it for the next weekend. I was afraid when it did not ship out the first day and was getting late into the next. I sent an email about when it would be shipped and soon after the orders status had been changed to shipped. I also got a friendly letter explaining that it wasn't shipped the previous day because of holiday reasons. In the end the jacket shipped and I got a fast and concise response to my email.
Now onto the jacket. So the picture is a little misleading for the "Gold Rush" option. I did not get a chance to look at in the store beforehand and went solely off of the picture. When I bought it I was under the impression that it was a solid yellow. It turns out that there is black streaked throughout the jacket making it a little darker than the yellow in the picture. The name states it perfectly with "Gold Rush" since gold is a darker yellow and has dark streaks before it is refined. I will say that in the end it is a pretty sick effect since a flat color can be hit or miss. I was looking for a solid yellow jacket but was having a hard time looking for one with the long fit and found this to be one of my few options.
In terms of the pockets it has the standard 2 front pockets and the chest pocket. On the inside there is a pocket which fits the classic ipod perfectly and has a small hole to the outside of the jacket for earphones. There is also a sweet pocket on the left sleeve which I did not know about.
The powder skirt is not removable but can be tucked seamlessly into the jacket. I have always had the removable and have to say I like this feature a lot because they did a good job with it not being annoying when wearing it as a jacket not on the mountain. It is a very clean minimalist jacket which suits my needs perfectly. I have had about 4 different jackets over the years and I have to say this will be my top choice when getting on the mountain. I have not had a chance to use it on the mountain but wanted to get this post up. I will most likely be posting again on the functionality part when I try it out at Wisp resort on the East Coast.
