Description

Back to the Future or up on the mountain, count on the POC Lobes Goggles.

It should be no surprise that the POC Lobes Goggles use a cutting-edge spherical lens to eliminate optical distortion. After all, they look like something Doc Brown would wear in the De Lorean. Whether you use the Lobes Goggles for skiing, snowboard, or time travel, the dual polycarbonate and cellulose propionate lens eliminates fogging, even at speeds up to 88 miles per hour. POC designed these goggles to provide excellent peripheral vision, so you can spot the landing when you come around on your 720 and see what's going on outside as soon as you open the gull-wing doors.

Sure this goggle works great with a helmet but, it really shines with a trucker hat.

The Best

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have 2 pair that i have had for about 4 years. Lenses changes easy so just buy different colors for different conditions. Pink seems to be best for me in most all conditions as it brings out all the shadows on hills well

i got pink too, girly color but gotta admit that its pretty awesome

Once you go black

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased the All Blacks. Very good for any sunny day, otherwise, it might be hard for some to see out off. The fit is great and mate great with my POC Bug helmet. Only wish I could find more replacement lenses, having a hard time with it. POC website doesn't ship to Canada.

POC Lobes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These particular goggles hold a special place in my heart. For one I'm still rocking the same pair I bought almost four years ago. I've changed the lenses a few times of course. I go through gear like I'm sponsored.(Not Sponsored) So its nice to have things that hold up under abuse, no matter how many times you've smashed them with your face...
The Lobes were the first in a long, continuing line of "can we just put straps on a lens and call them goggles?" and while they don't have rare earth magnets that hold the lens on or change with the push of a button, the swapping of said lens is actually not that bad. 6 little "nubs" and the nose bridge hold the pre-cut lens in place, you just have to line them all up and presto!
They have never fogged on me. with that being said I rarely take my goggles off, even when hiking; i also never, NEVER touch/wipe the inside of the lens. This is what destroys your "anti-fog" coating and can scratch the inside lens.

Bottom Line
A solid, simple goggle that performs for years.
What more could you ask for?

Great googles

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Sharp, comfortable and with a great field of view. Roomy enough to accommodate smaller glasses or prescription sunglasses. The orange lens is not dark enough for the sunny California days but it does a nice job of enhancing contrast. I will have to get the black tinted lens for the sunny days.

would these goggles work well over top of my glasses?

They don't fit very well over glasses. You should look at the Smith IO/X

I have the pink, light smoke/gold mirror

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have the pink, light smoke/gold mirror POC goggles/lenses and I could not be happier with the view you get from these goggles! I have had them for two years and I am now just having to replace my lenses (I am very rough on my stuff to, so I am surprised I have not had to do this sooner) After having these goggles, I will probably always stick with the POC Lobes!

Bugs have eyes like this for a reason.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The POC lobes goggles are super awesome. They allow me to have a full field of vision and rarely (did it once) fog up on me. The wide view is excellent and the shape of the lens doesn't impeded my vision at all.

Full vision...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just got these and have only tired them on in the house and with my helmet (paired them with a POC synapse helmet). Comparing them to my Smith IO and variant helmet combo, I like these so far. They seem to fit the helmet well with no air gaps and they look sweet. As others have said, these give a wide field of vision. I've got a small head/face , 5-7/8" hat size, and these are a little larger on my face, but not ridiculous. will update more once the snow flies.

Splurge....you won't be sorry

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These goggles are really freakin cool looking. They're definitely a bit on the expensive side, but are a truly quality piece of equipment. You get a really wide angle of vision, and very clear and fog resistant lenses. These fit seamlessly with POC helmets, which keeps the wind completely out, and makes a difference on those cold windy days.

One important thing I would note is that the black lenses are VERY tinted and are only good for blue bird days. You'll want to get another set of lenses with higher VLT rating for most skiing days.

Wide vision

The best (and most obvious) feature of these goggles are the super wide field of vision. The lenses and frame are very high quality but I was disappointed by how badly these could fog. There are no front vents so air doesnt flow through well. They arent a pow day goggle in my book because of that but for a sunny day rippin groomers, youll be able to see that idiot whose about to cut you off in your furthest peripheral.

Best Option Out There

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used to be an Oakley snob. I owned 5 pairs of crowbars. But I just like these so much better. The optics seem on-par, but these offer a larger field of view. They also don't look as ridiculous as the airbrake or the canopy which are incredibly huge.

The black on black option and the white on white option are really unique looking. I get asked almost every day what goggle I have on.

This picture was taken at Big Sky Montana. My friends and I were touring in an area a few miles from the resort and we got sick of skinning. Then we found this road that had been groomed but not plowed and we started doing skitch hot laps.

Best goggles for snow and space.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These things are sick. Super comfy, they never fog, the lens can be swapped in no time. I have yet to scratch the lenses, the elastic band is still in great shape despite me keeping the goggles on the helmet all season. The strap is pretty beefy and has this non slip stuff so it locks on the helmet tight. I hope POC keeps these in their lineup, because I do not intend to buy another goggle. Also, if you ever wanted to be a fighter pilot but didn't, then just buy these and you will instantly feel like one.

Perfect in every way.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are the best goggles. They don't fog up easily. The lens is easily removable. The frameless design has inspired a lot of copy cats. The peripheral vision on them is HUGE. They are very durable. I had a pair with a defective lens and POC sent me a new lens for free. Great customer service. Very unique, most people don't have these and they look awesome!!

Cool but a little small.

I have a big face and these are just a shade to small. They work with a hat but not with my helmet. The bottom of the goggle could extend down a little further. Also the adjustment hardware is super weak, So if you adjust the length of your goggle strap frequently it will break.

These are hands down the best looking goggles I have ever owned and the best performing goggles I have ever owned. I have them in black on black and my only recommendation would be to buy an additional lens for low light days.

Hi - great goggles. Are these OTG? (over the glasses - or can they be used over prescription glasses?) If yes, I'm sold...Bill

Responded on

They aren't specifically OTG, but as long as your frames are relatively small, you shouldn't have a problem.

Responded on

Although the goggles are pretty deep (the lenses are very concave) the foam is pretty thick too and may get in the way. Close call, I'd probably say it wouldnt work unless your glasses are very low profile and slip under the foam no problem

Responded on

I've been wearing my lobes over my glasses for 3 seasons now. If your glasses aren't large hipster frames you should be good.

Great goggles

Incredibly comfortable fit, look great, and the lenses are top quality. Fits perfectly with POC helmets, which helps on windy days by keeping the wind from getting in. The black lenses are have a very low VLC, and work well for blue bird days but a set of replacement lenses for low/flat light is useful.
