Description

Comfort, protection, and style that makes the ladies smile.

POC altered their popular four season Receptor helmet to create the snow-specific POC Receptor BUG Helmet which offers adjustable venting, bombproof protection and style to boot. Merged hard-shell and in-mold construction creates a unique double-shell design with superior ventilation and the ability to protect your head against impact or penetration from sharp objects. Removable ear pads keep your ears warm on frigid days whether you take the Bug for a hike in the backcountry, or for a few laps in the park.
  • POC joined an external ABS hard shell with an internal polycarbonate shell to create an exceptionally strong helmet that's lightweight
  • The Ventilated Double Shell Anti Penetration technology allows air to flow between the inner and outer shell to create ample ventilation without compromising protection
  • A single-impact EPS liner maintains a low profile fit with all the impact shock absorption you need to stay safe

I tried helmets from all the major manufacturers, and this one fit my head the best, despite the fact that I'm neither a Swede nor an alien (as far as I know). Your mileage may vary, of course. The sizes are definitely screwy, according to POC I'm a large, but the medium fit perfectly.

As others have mentioned, the goggle clip is really poorly designed. Mine came off and disappeared on the second day. I sent email to customer support at POC about buying additional ones, but have yet to get a response.

Strangely, the vents tend to resonate when the wind is blowing perpendicular to the direction you're facing. It's not a big deal, but it gets kind of loud on windy days.

Based on the fit alone, I'm quite happy with this helmet.

Great helmet, and super comfortable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's trying to keep their brains intact.

I got the Backe edition and in my humble opinion, it's the best looking design/color of all available Bug options. The design is so slick and clean, the only downside is since the shell has more of a shiny finish than the matte finish of others, the scratches seem to show up quick(er). As for the helmet itself, I love the simplicity in its construction (not to say the design isn't sophisticated, the double overlapping shells do seem to work very well controlling the heat inside the helmet without compromising its ability to protect against penetration), the durable materials, and lightness. My only gripe is the detachable clip for goggle straps (poor design, flimsy, etc.); I just do without it.

This helmet rocks! So comfortable and warm, but not too hot when hiking and touring. It vents surprisingly well! And I love the kick ass colors. It does tend to run a bit small.

I ski every day like it's my last...so that's why I wear a helmet. Fact: POC makes helmets that pass international standards with flying colors. I have put my trust in these helmets and have been rewarded with turns like these.

Hey Tristan, Hayden is wrong on this one. The ear-flaps are definitely removable, an option I take advantage of during the spring season. As for wearing your goggles under the helmet, I know guys like Tanner and Sammy do it for looks, but you might find that the helmet doesn't sit properly, thereby reducing its effectiveness. So, please consider 'function over fashion' in this regard...

I really like this helmet. Fits great good style and durable. My only complaint is how goggles attach. Its pretty cheap but even without the piece goggles stay on pretty well. Just ordered a second one for my sister.

I really like this helmet a lot. POC put a lot of R&D into the design of the Receptor Bug and it has paid off. The helmet isn't too bulky, doesn't weigh a ton, but has great protection. I am definitely glad I have been wearing it in a few instances. Works equally well with goggles over the top or under the helmet. I generally prefer the latter. Fits true to size and fits well with both my Oakley Crowbars as well as with my POC lobes.

Awesome helmet, the best I've had hands down. Very comfortable, lightweight and it's unique design will definitely set you apart from the rest of the Giro/RedHifi crowd.

I've had several helmets over the past few seasons and this is by far the best. It's light, comfortable and looks great. I use it with Oakley Crowbars which fit very well. I've also mounted a GoPro Hero HD recently which is staying put without issue.

Light and comfortable.

Great protection and fit. Not one you can adjust easily with the turn of a dial to fit perfect but fit me pretty well out of the box. If i could add anything i would add a venting system that is easy to adjust. Kind of a pain, but still a great helmet.

If you are looking for an adjustable fit, check out the Receptor Bug Adjustable helmets. They include a dial adjustment just like you mentioned.

Excellent comfort + killer looks...everything you can expect from POC. I love POCs design with the ventilation system.

Update: Mid-season I also purchased their Frontal model. The Frontal is a bit lighter and although it's got a fixed foam design (Receptor comes with detachable pads) it's also a bit more comfortable for me. I guess I just have to play with the settings on my Receptor.
