I bought these for myself and my 9 year old daughter. She is picky about bunching in the boot area. These kept her warm and happy. Same with me. And they have a fun print so she wants to wear them. I'm a size 8 and ordered a medium, she is a girl's 10 and XS fits her fine. One warning, with all Burton undergarments, they have a snug fit on limbs. I guess they are thinking young, hip riders are on the boney side. The rest of the garment is proportioned ok.
I loved my old Burton mittens. I am female and like the roominess of men's mittens. I have medium hands for a female and tried a men's small and medium. In both cases, the thumb is too tight, even for my girly fingers. And forget it with the liners. The liners make it hard to take the gloves on and off. Compared to my old gloves, the cuff/gauntlet is not as long, and that was the deal breaker. In general, however, they are well made and seem warm.
These mittens are warm and cozy, fit well and are just what i wanted, but... they are not for skiers. The lining is too delicate for adjusting boots, grasping poles and moving fingers individually. The lining came with a tiny tear in it, I stitched it up, but it got worse. If you don't need to move your fingers much, these are great gloves.
