I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. Short drive away from the Cottonwood Canyons & the "Big 4" ski resorts.
SUMMER: I've always loved sports, especially outdoor sports. Nothing beats being up in the mountains. Utah is the perfect place to live if you love the outdoors, especially in Salt Lake City. I feel so lucky to call Salt Lake my home. Honestly, you can do it ALL here.
My favorite outdoor sports in summertime are bouldering, sport climbing, hiking, and camping. Little Cottonwood Canyon is no doubt one of the best spots in the country for bouldering & climbing, with literally 1000s of boulders & routes scattered throughout the canyon. Most of them only have a 5 min approach (or less). When the temp in the valley gets up into the 90s, I like to head up Big or Little Cottonwood canyon to escape the heat. Most of the bouldering and climbing areas are hidden in the trees, making it much cooler than down in the valley.
WINTER: Snowboarding! Have been snowboarding for 12 years as of this winter (08/09). Snowbird is my favorite resort, but I like Brighton & The Canyons too. I am lucky to live in Utah, where the snow is the best anywhere. Dont believe me? Check out our license plates!
The DAKINE Deluxe Tuning Kit includes everything a skier or snowboarder needs to wax/tune their skis or board. The kit is all organized for you in a convenient black zippered case. Each item in the kit seems to be very high-quality and I'm pleased with all of it so far. The only thing NOT included is an iron, but for this price I can deal w/ it. (Check out the DAKINE Super Tune Tuning Kit- Item# DAK0836. It's basically the same kit but w/ an iron.) Great value!
The Speed Zone lacing works pretty well. More convenient lacing than traditional lace-up boots. Allows you to put your boots on faster and take them off even quicker! This is my 3rd season wearing Ions and they're still as comfy and solid as the first year I got them.
A softer flex boot would probably help, but first you should experiment w/ different binding stances. Mess around w/ your stance angles to see if that alleviates the pain or not. I'd bet that your stance is partly the cause of (and solution to) that pain in your lower leg.
Brighton is an awesome resort with great terrain. It doesn't have crazy steeps like Snowbird, but Brighton is far from flat. Their backcountry terrain is sick too. Grab one of these passes and head over to Brighton's Rock Garden between the Crest and Millicent lifts. Do it.
Finding a t-shirt that looks good and fits well can be pretty hit or miss. But the Oakley Toac Sword T-Shirt - Men's is no miss... it's definitely a hit! It's a high-quality heavyweight t-shirt (not too thin, not too thick or heavy), and the graphics are awesome. The Toac Sword shirt is now one of my favorite shirts. I'm thinking of getting another one in either black or heather gray.
