I read several reviews that mentioned whistling with car racks so I got the fairing when I got the rest of the rack and I have not had any problems at all with whistling. I took it off once just to see if there was a whistling and there definitely is. I'd go crazy if I didn't have the fairing on.
The Big Powderhound has been a phenomenal piece of equipment. I installed the thing and then threw 4 snowboards on it and drove 600 miles to Colorado and this thing did not move one bit. It held all the boards perfectly with no damage to them thanks to the rubber sections and I had no concerns at all that this was going to come off. I got the fairing from Yakima and I had no problems with whistling either. I would highly recommend this and any other Yakima products.
I bought these after reading several great recommendations and I have not been disappointed. As a Ski Patroller I am out all the time and I have never had a problem with these whatsoever. They fit perfectly with my Giro Seam helmet, have never fogged up and are comfortable to wear for hours. You really can't go wrong with these.
As a Ski Patroller a helmet is a must and I have never been disappointed by the Seam. This helmet has all the bells and whistles you could want. The padded chin strap feels great, the rear dial adjustment is easy to use with gloves on and stays in place, the stack vent works great and the multiple setting on the vents helps keep your head just the right temp. I can't say that I've found anything wrong with it. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a great helmet.
