Got these in Oceanic. Nice color and the fleece butt and knees are certainly a plus. The fit seems slightly smaller than last year when FYI was designing them and way smaller than a few years ago. Overall the AK line is great and you definitely get what you pay for.
These goggles rock. I have been wearing IS or Iris goggles for the last ten years. I just made the switch and am very satisfied. These goggles fit great and are built tough. I bought some Ruby Clear lenses for them and they worked for both storm and bluebird conditions, first time that has ever happened. All in all a great goggle.
Great bag. It's big enough for your board, boots, outerwear, goggles and other small items which is great because then you can pack the rest of your gear in a couple carry-on bags and avoid the $30-$40 additional checked bag charge that most airlines will hit you with. It's well constructed and rolls nice. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the shoulder strap is lame but it wouldn't stop me from buying this bag again.
I bought this board after riding a Ride Timeless for many seasons. This board has a completely different feel and is soft and playful compared to the stiff as a board feel of the timeless (rocker vs. camber). I don't ride park but this board would do well if you did. I use this as an all mountain freeride and it does the job well. I wear a size 12 Burton ION and have no toe/heel drag. So much so that I wonder if I could drop to the standard width version of this board. If you want a fun forgiving board to enjoy the whole mountain with, here ya go...
These bindings are great. The straps are comfortable, the bed is soft and the flex is just right. These bindings are used by pros from just about every other company and there is a good reason for that. If you have never ridden a board/binding with the EST channel, do yourself a favor and locate your closest demo day. You will never look back. Select your size, click add to cart and buy this binding.
Great mid-weight layer. The quality on their layering pieces has improved substantially over the years. I owned an AK expedition fleece top a few years back. It felt like junk, looked like junk and was poorly constructed when compared to their newer stuff. This thing is great and worth the $$$ if you got it.
Very nice layering piece to add to the collection. Your intended use will likely determine the size you choose. For example, I am 6'2" 220lbs and usually wear and XL sweatshirt when wandering around town. However my planned use for this piece is a insulating layer under my AK Burn shell so I went with the Large. The fit is good and is slimmer than I usually wear but again it works perfect for layering. The quality is excellent as expected with any [ak] piece. One thing not shown in the photo is that it has a AK logo on the back of the sholder, probably 3"x3". I will try to post photos if I remember. All in all, worth the money.
If high quality backcountry performance is what you are looking for in a glove than look no further. These gloves are warm and very well constructed. This year they extended the neoprene cuff which is great. Nothing worse than getting snow in your gloves. These were a huge upgrade to the Burton Baker gloves I owned last season which in my opinion were the most useless gloves ever created. I was sad to learn that this will be the last year that FYI Design would be creating the [ak] line for Burton. Hopefully the quality doesn't fall from its current high standard. BTW these gloves have a MSRP of $99 bucks not $114 like listed here. If you want to purchase these, I would suggest emailing the folks at Backcountry and have them correct the issue. If you hate cold, wet hands buy, buy these gloves.
Decided to upgrade most of my gear this year and this was one of the items that got upgraded. I had Burton Ozones prior to these which are primarily a park boot even though I do not ride park (not sure why I had them) and decided to go with the Ion's. These boots are significantly stiffer but not in a bad way. They are very supportive while at the same time very comfortable. The fit feels similar to the Burton Sabbath's I owned a few years back although these have a much smaller profile. I got the purple/white color which is accurately described by the photos. They fit true to size and I plan to have them for many seasons to come. The price is lofty and required some serious negotiation with the wife but doing the dishes for a year is a small price to pay for a boot like this.
Great pants. I never throught I would pay this much for pants but I did and they are worth it. These are extremely well made, the construction is flawless. With regards to fit. This years model feature the new "AK" fit vs. the "Sig" fit found in previous years. After reading a number of reviews on sites like easyloungin I was concerned about them being too small as the new fit is slightly slimmer and features articlulated knees. That said, I decided to go with the XL. I am 6'2" 220lbs and have a 36" waist. The XL fits well but are definitely roomy in the waist and I wonder if I could have sized down. Either way I am keeping them. These pants are ideal for backcountry riding. If you are looking for lots of features or insulation, these are not the pants for you. If you are looking for a durable, minimalist, ultra high-end waterproof shell then look no further, simply add it to the cart and drain the bank account!
