Special Blend runs smaller in my experience. I am an average medium-sized girl and ordered this jacket accordingly. It was so snug, I found myself pulling it down just standing (much less snowboarding) forget snapping the powder skirt! The craftsmanship also seemed a little cheap, but for the price I guess that's what you can expect. I ended up returning the jacket.

I love 686 but this jacket is not very well insulated. Although this is suggested as streetwear (which is accurate) you will need additional layers to keep you warm if it's reallly cold out. It does make a crinkly noise when you move about, but not a huge biggey. I found the fur trim to be really cheap-looking so I removed mine before wearing. Size runs ample, I am 5,8 and a medium would fit me with room for layers.

I'm about the same height and weight as you. I wear this jacket in a medium which allows for layering (there are also snaps on the back of the waist which allows you to sinch a little for a more flattering fit.) This is my pow jacket, it runs a little longer in length and hits just below the butt. I live, work, and ride in Lake Tahoe where it has been tried and tested in pure blizzard conditions. I highly highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality, warm, and flattering snowboard jacket!

I am 5,8' and normally wear sized M-L jackets depending on the maker. I love 686 because their craftsmanship is top-notch and steezy so I purchased this bad boy last winter. I ended up returning it because it was too big even with base layers. The arms actually extended several inches past my fingertips and I looked shapeless even with the cute belt. So just keep that in mind when purchasing a size; I would shoot more on the modest end.
