These are awesome bindings. I thought I was going to break them the first day with the mesh high back but I didn't. Burton has done it yet again and produced a binding that is more comfortable then their other bindings and weighs less. If you ride the Cartels and really dont like the Sky Back, shell the extra $$$ and get the CO2. You will be as surprised as much as I was with their abilities.
If what you want is a snowboard you can ride any day of the year with absolute confidence in any conditions, look no further than the Custom X. The construction of the board is absolutely top notch, and the ride is the best that I've ever had. I've ridden a variety of boards in the past, and none has come even close to the on-snow feeling that this board has. The snow chatter is almost non-existent, the edge hold on ice is almost unreal, I have yet to find the maximum stable speed (I have the 160cm length), and the flex and spring launch you through turns almost effortlessly. The only problems I've run into on this board are flatter slopes on powder days, but that is easily remedied by avoiding flatter slopes (really on all days, but powder days in particular). The board is also ideally suited to backcountry use because of its light weight. With approach skis or snowshoes, this thing will almost disappear when strapped to your back (unless there are heavy winds or any of the other dangers you may encounter when outside the realms of a resort).
