I'm a pretty general, all-mountain rider. I've ridden boards from 156 to 162. This is the best board I've ridden, period.

In powder, the board is soft and supple, floating easily with snappy reflex.
Man-made, groomed conditions and general packed seemed to be what this board was made for. Shifting front to back toward the toe-side is slingshot-like. Where the Flying V really comes to life is the toe-side turn back to heel-side. The movement is effortless, care-free, and fast. There's no comparison between this board and an old-school camber board.

This board is beautiful because you can either let the board drive you down the hill, like you've got your own chauffeur, or you can step it up and manipulate the crap out of the board in the park. It's what you want it to be.

The only negative I have is that ice is not the place you want to ride this board. I'm not saying it won't get you by, but you're not going to win any awards riding ice with the Custom Flying V.

My stats: 180 lbs, 5' 10", regular (foot), 11.5 boot, Burton Cartel EST, Burton Custom Flying V 158 Wide. Hills: Heavenly, Sierra at Tahoe, China Peak, Mammoth, Badger Pass.

One day at Heavenly and I'm ready to pack these up and take 'em back. The third star I'm giving these is for the fact that they made it a full ride day. I've read great reviews so I expected better, which is why I'm qualifying this with the fact that I may have purchased a pair of lemons.

I've got these mounted to an '11-'12 Burton Custom Flying V 58 Wide. I ride an 11.5 Vans Aura boot. The toe strap ratchets became extraordinarily loose and I couldn't completely tighten the toe. Half way through the day, the right toe strap came undone.

The ride felt good as long as I was strapped.

I'm looking at the Malavita or the Cartel next.
