This pants are great, the relaxed fit is great and not overly relaxed like Arcteryx Sabre and MH Compulsion 3L pants, which looks more like clown pants than ski pants! Back to compound pants, it's a really burly fabric and the fit is great for skiing. The pants are heavy, heavier than all of the Patagonia's and Arcteryx bibs. I see that a few improvements were made for next year's model, which I like it, but I believe the weight is due to the fabric itself. I don't really care much for the full side zips, I prefer a 3/4 or 7/8 zipper since I think it's easier to vent than a full side zip that is hidden bellow the jacket, even though for some the full side separating zip could be useful since it's easy to put and take off the pants with ski boots, even clicked on skis, also I couldn't care less for the back pockets, I don't use them and they make the pants heavier. The 3 front pockets would be enough for me, but could also be a little bigger, they are not small but I wish they were a little bigger. The snaps to connect to the powder skirt could have been made of metal instead of plastic (arcteryx slide and lock), but they seem to be durable, a little too many though I prefer a more minimal powder skirt, there are just too many snaps. The inner vents are definitively small, they are about 7 in and my pants are size small. Overall a great relaxed fit pants that could use some improvements, but close to the top pants in the market. Still prefer the Arcteryx stinger pants though, since they are much lighter and easier to move inside. But if you prefer a more relaxed fit, durable and complete breathable and waterproof pants, the compound pants are the best around, and I think next year's being a little lighter and less pockets will be even better. Definitively top of the line, only reason I gave 4 stars it's because the design is a little "busy" for my tastes and could use some improvements, which seems to have been made for next year. Also 4 stars because they are made in China e not the here.
are those boot top or full length pants?
I like the strechy elastic belt, it's more comfortable than regular leather belts. The porter color makes it a little more casual which is great for me since I don't wear business clothes! The leather part is really stiff, I hope it will break in with time like most leather belts... right now I do prefer to wear my atwood belt in some pants since it's more comfortable and the stiff leather isn't working for all my pants! Will update after the break in period
