Too much responsibility, not enough praise or reward will overstress and lead to a negative outcome for your teen! Agreed too much free time without someone's help to guide that energy to a positive outcome can be a wreck but when the teen asks for the reward, it does not require a smart ass remark you will get it when 'I' say! Punishing a teen requires a time limit not a smartass statement of 'you are grounded until I say' Too many parents make the same mistake and that is the lack of consistancy- If it is no today then it is no tomarrow, if it is punishment then tell how long and what it was for, if a teen has to act as the adult when it is conveinant for the parents, like babysitting, then by gosh let that teen know your appreciation and allow that teen a little more freedom! from nana in Tennessee!
