When I first considered the KEEN Targhee II, I was skeptical the boots would perform as well as the Scarpas and La Sportivas I'd turned to for multi-day backpacking trips for years. Frankly, the KEENs blew those out of the water as far as comfort goes, and were totally comparable in terms of support, traction and waterproof protection. These boots felt like slippers from the moment I laced them up, but supported and protected my feet and ankles over hundreds of rocky, rooty and wet miles. My one complaint is that the soles have started to delaminate, but I'm super-gluing them on to help solve the problem. But that's it; Everything else is golden. For me, big, bulky, stiff, blister-causing boots are a thing of the past -- thank God. I'll be turning to KEEN from now on.

Most comfortable hiking boot I've ever worn

I loved my last pair of Chaco Z/2s into the ground, and eventually wore through the Terreno sole. When I first got my new Z/2s with the Unaweep sole, I wasn't a fan of how they didn't feel quite as burly as the original Terrenos, but after having worn them every day since I took them out of the box (except for a period of a few days when I sent them back to Chaco so they could customize the strap length), I’m in love again! My new Chacos are still the most comfortable footwear I own. If you want to get as close to barefoot as possible without getting kicked out of the 7Eleven, this is it!
